Please keep my friend Michael A in your prayers. He’s been in the ICU since Saturday and is suffering greatly with a terrible infection. His heart stopped for over 20 minutes in the ambulance on the way to the hospital and he really hasn’t recovered. The CPR they had to do for so long broke 12 of his ribs and he is in agony, his heart has also been causing him issues through all of this. He has been intubation and sedated since he got there- and he doesn’t seem to be making much progress.

He’s a warm hearted sweet man, and his wife has been a friend for a long time. They really don’t deserve all of the pain they are experiencing. They need all of the prayers they can get to see him out of the woods, as well as to help him on his long road back to recovery.

My friend is a non practicing Catholic, I’m not sure about him. I’ve suggested she pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet for him daily, my son and I also will. I’m also starting a Rosary Novena for him today. God works in mysterious ways, I’m praying he makes it through this and with the help of our prayers, that Jesus lights up his soul and that he turns to God in the process.

Next time I speak to her, I will also be suggesting she call a priest in to pray over him (I believe he was baptized)… just in case. I hope to travel out her way this weekend and I plan to being him a green scapular. Any other suggestions would be welcome!

Thanks guys!

*O most beautiful Flower of Mount Carmel, Fruitful Vine, Splendor of Heaven, who brought forth the Son of God still remaining a Virgin, assist us in this necessity. O Star of the Sea, help us, and show us that you are our Mother.

O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and earth, we humbly ask you from the depths of our heart to help us in this necessity. There are none who can withstand your power. O show us that you are our Mother.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee. *Sweet Mother, we place this cause in your hands. Amen

Praying for Michael, good friend!

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful, and kindle in them the fire of Your love. Send forth Your Spirit, and they shall be created, and You shall renew the face of the earth. Amen.

PRAYER FOR HEALING

Merciful God,
we remember before you all who are sick this day.
Give them courage to live with their condition.
Help them to face and overcome their fears.
Be with them when they are alone or rejected.
Comfort them when they are discouraged.
And touch them with your healing Spirit
that they may find and possess eternal life,
now and forever.

Amen.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Prayer for a Miracle

God of all creation, you who spoke a simple command and brought forth light from
the darkness, I ask you now to send forth your miracle-working power to heal Michael A. You cleansed the lepers, opened the eyes of the blind and by
speaking a simple command, you empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.
You sent forth your life-giving power to all those in need, including those you raised from
the dead. I ask you to send forth your healing power into Michael A’s body and give him the strength to fight his illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

I pray for Michael A, who is
having health issues, The
Lord is King over the swelling of
the seas, when it’s waves mount
up He stills them!! Ps 89:9

Our Father, who is in heaven,
hallowed be Your Name,
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Thank you all so much!

His wife was back at work today, she’s been going a bit stir crazy spending so much time at the hospital and at home alone.

Last I heard, Michael wasn’t out of the woods but he was becoming more stable. They were doing a cat scan today to see if his heart stopping for so long has caused any brain damage, they were hopeful however in thinking it hadn’t.

He’ll be in the hospital for a while longer, as he really hasn’t regained conciousness (they are keeping him heavily sedated).

Anyway- just wanted to thank you all for taking the time, and figured i’d post an update. Your prayers are very much appreciated!

God bless you all!

Heart breaking news tonight. If you can, please keep praying.

Michael is no longer on any sedatives, and has maintained a relatively normal heart beat and blood pressure. He does, however, remain in a coma - not responding to any outside stimulus or obeying simple commands (not opening his eyes, squeezing your hand, moving his legs, etc). The CT scan unfortunately shows that his brain has sustained damage due to the lack of oxygen from respiratory distress and cardiac arrest. The damage done in this instance is to the higher functions (personality, consciousness, etc) because he is maintaining the basic needs (heart rate, blood pressure, breathing). The fact is they don’t know if he will ever wake up and even if he does, they certainly can not predict if he will be at all like the Michael we knew.

The plan for Michael’s care has not changed. We (drs, nurses, friends and family) are taking it day by day for now, but the fact remains the longer he stays like this, the chances of any recovery go down.

Praying for Michael A., that
he will be well cared for by people
w/ HOPE for his eventual recovery!!

Our Father, who is in heaven,
hallowed be your Name,
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses as
we forgive those who trespass against us,
(Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors)
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Things are looking increasingly glum for Michael. He has suffered multiple strokes and has not woken up. The doctors have a plan in mind, one more thing they want to try but they aren’t so sure it will be successful.

I spoke to his wife tonight, and she has started thinking about getting him baptized… she hasn’t decided on which denomination. I offered to help her make the arrangements for a catholic priest to come baptize him as well as give him the last rites… but she’s still hashing through it all- it’s just so hard.

I thank you all for your prayers, and need to ask you please pray that she calls a catholic priest in to take care of him.

Eternal God, In whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible,
look kindly upon us, and increase your mercy in us,
that in difficult moments, we might not despair, nor become despondent,
but with great confidence, submit ourselves to Your holy will,
which is Love and Mercy Itself.
Amen.
