I have come back to my Catholic faith again, only about 3 months ago, and I always have a hard time persevering and sticking with my prayer life.

I am trying harder this time than I have done in many years. I am now 51 years old, and it is indeed time for me to take life seriously, and to hand my life over to our Lord.

Please help me with some prayers for my ability to persevere. Also while you are at it a prayer for my ability to learn humility would be most appreciated.

I know I am new here, so I understand if you are not so inclined as to help me, but if you are, I would most appreciate it.

God Bless You

Hugs, Katherine

Praying for you from today’s Liturgy of the Hours:

O God,
who by the glorification of your Christ,
and the light of the Holy Spirit
have unlocked for us the gates of eternity,
grant, we pray, that, partaking of so great a gift,
our devotion may grow deeper and our faith be strengthened.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
– Amen.

May the Lord bless us,
protect us from all evil and bring us to everlasting life.
– Amen.

Father, I pray for Katherine and her intentions. Please give her a steadfast faith in You and perseverance so that she may not neglect her prayers. Grant her humility and strength so that she may never waiver in her faith in You. St. Michael, pray for her. AMEN.

Thank you for your beautiful thoughts … May God Bless You ALL Abundantly with His Love and Graces.

I can relate with your request, and pray that prayer becomes a daily part of your life.

Give Our Blessed Virgin Mary a chance. I was where you are a little over a year ago. I started praying the Rosary. I got a Green Scapular blessed. I then got enrolled with a Brown Scapular. I had several hard confessions. Way too many sins for one confession. I put the Green Scapular under my bedding so I sleep over it at night. I wear the Brown Scapular always. I now pray the Rosary every night. I’ve given myself, and all my works and prayers to Mary to present to Jesus. My prayer life is only second to going to mass. I’ve got a long ways to go. Thou I have come from the depths of going to Hell.

I will pray with you.

***Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of death.

Amen***

I just finished a 33 day consecration to Mary via St. Louis deMontfort and Father Gailtey, 33 days to Morning Glory. I have a brown scapular that I wear in the evenings and I do say my rosary every day. My fear is that I will not persevere and that I will fall away again … I have done so many times in my life.

Thank you for showing me that I am on the right road. I so want to remain close to our Lord and Mary.

Through the Sacred heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I pray for fortitude and humility for Katherine

Thank you everyone who has offered prayers for me … you are such beautiful people … God Bless You All.

Just wanted to update this old thread from when I first joined the board … 2012 had been a good year for me spiritually … I had come back to the Church after a long hiatus … which pretty much sums up my religious life … I go for long breaks in between periods of very heightened spirituality.

I remember this thread almost as if it were yesterday. I did remain consistent in 2012 up until October 29, 2012, when Superstorm Sandy destroyed my home. I had to live elsewhere for quite a while … and I was so distraught that I once again let my spiritual life lapse. However this time it was for a very long time … it is only two weeks since I have come back home to Jesus … another heightened time of spirituality … however my prayer is once again the same … that I may have the ability to persevere … to continue in my daily prayer life … to actually read the hundreds of good Catholic religious books I have bought over the years … and to make Mass something that I do not miss.

You see I am disabled and at times don’t feel up to doing things … but I pray that I will never be too ill that I can’t at least get to our Lord’s table for one hour on a Sunday. Due to health issues, I can no longer kneel at Church, which I have found to be a sacrifice … but being there to Celebrate Mass with Christ is the most important thing.

If anyone would like to add a prayer for me, it would again be appreciated … and I want to say thank you to all the faithful that are always here to help people like me that are spiritually weak at times … and are holding on for all our lives … this board and the people who make it come to life are most appreciated by myself.

Oh, and by the way, if you do say a prayer, I could also use prayers for purity of mind and humility of heart … thank you most kindly.

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth.

O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.

Thank you … it has only been two weeks since I came back to our Lord … I am holding on … I pray this time for good.

St. Thérèse of Liseux Prayer From “Story of A Soul”

May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received,
and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content knowing you are a child of God.
Let this presence settle into your bones,
and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise, and love.
It is there for each and every one of us.

Amen.

Lord, thank you that you are with me right now.
Your love surpasses all fear.
I give you the anxiety I feel.
I surrender all my worries to you.
Clear my mind;
Calm my heart;
Still my Spirit;
Relax my being, that, I may
always glorify you in everything
I write, speak and do.

Amen.

Jesus, Help Me

In every need let me come to Thee with humble trust, saying,
Jesus, help me!

In all my doubts, perplexities, and temptations,
Jesus, help me!

In hours of loneliness, weariness and trials,
Jesus, help me!

In the failure of my plans and hopes; in disappointments, troubles and sorrows,
Jesus, help me!

When my heart is cast down by failure, at seeing no good come from my efforts,
Jesus, help me!

When others fail me, and Thy grace alone can assist me,
Jesus, help me!

When I throw myself on Thy tender love as Father and Savior,
Jesus, help me!

When I feel impatient, and my cross irritates me,
Jesus, help me!

When sickness and loneliness overcome me,
Jesus, help me!

Always, in weakness, falls and shortcomings of every kind,
Jesus, help me and never forsake me.

Thank You, dear Lord Jesus.

Amen.

Sweet Heart of Jesus, be my love.
Sweet Heart of my Jesus, grant that I may always love You more.
Heart of Jesus, burning with love for us, set our hearts on fire with love of You.
Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make our hearts like Your Heart.

Amen.

Prayers said. All will be well. Do not fear, the Lord is protecting you.
Do not be lonely, your guardian angel is beside you.
Be comforted, Mother will watch over you, and the
Holy Spirit will guide you.

Amen.

Prayer Against Depression
………….By St Ignatius of Loyola

O Christ Jesus
When all is darkness
And we feel our weakness and helplessness,
Give us the sense of Your Presence,
Your Love and Your Strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
In Your protecting love
And strengthening power,
So that nothing may frighten or worry us,
For, living close to You,
We shall see Your Hand,
Your Purpose, Your Will through all things.

Amen.

Let Nothing Disturb You

Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you,
All things are passing away:
God never changes.

Patience,
Obtains all things,
Whoever has God
Lacks nothing:
God alone suffices.

Santa Teresa de Jesús
(Santa Teresa de Ávila)

Amen.

**
My Jesus,
I believe that You are
present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and
I desire to receive You into my soul.
**Since I cannot at this moment receive
You sacramentally, come at least spiritually
into my heart. I embrace You
as if You were already there and
unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated
from You.

Amen.

Piarist fathers have taught this short act of
Spiritual Communion, popularized by St. Josemaria Escriva:

I wish, Lord, to receive You with the purity, humility and
devotion with which Your most holy Mother received You, with the
spirit and fervour of the saints.

Amen.

**
Thank You dear Lord Jesus, always and
everywhere, for everything.

Amen.

† **

Jesus, I trust in You.

Amen.
