I hope this is not improper for a prayer request thread, but the Priest who is doing the funeral wanted a tribute from the family. I had to keep it short as there will be a mass at the service.

" The “Parable of the Talents”, in Matthew 25:14–30 tells of a master who was leaving his house to travel, and, before leaving, entrusted his property to his servants. According to the abilities of each man, one servant received five talents, the second servant received two talents, and the third servant received one talent. Upon returning home, after a long absence, the master asks his three servants for an account of the talents he entrusted to them.

This well known parable is a metaphor, a reminder, that one day we will stand trembling before our merciful Lord to return the talents that represent the graces given us during our lives. Our deeds, our kindness, the Love shown by the Shepard to his faithful followers as they graze towards eternity. Surely the talents returned by our Dad to a most merciful God, will place him at the table of the banquet of our Lord. Our Dad was first and foremost a devoted husband to our mother, a good provider, a teacher, and a skilled and talented philosopher.

As children, it was difficult to really know him. My early memories of him include chalkboards in the study, smells of coffee brewing for his philosophy groups, whom he entertained and enlightened as far back as the 1960s. The smell of books and cherry pipe smoke. Lofty things far beyond the understanding of us as kids. My biggest lament is the loss of his manuscripts and sermons. It never occurred to him to save most of them. By the time it dawned on us, to save and archive them it was too late, so most of these things will have to live on in the memories of those who shared with him.

But isn’t that not like life? As Psalm 103 reminds us, The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; 16 the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more.

Death is simply a flick of a switch. We his children imagine our Dad now continuing to do what he loved best, flying an airplane, loaded with books and ideas, and maybe a thermos of coffee flying towards eternal bliss.
We shall all miss him greatly.

Saying prayers for your dad. May he rejoice forever in the presence of our God.

My prayers for your mom and for you also.

So sorry to hear of his passing 2towers,praying for your father ,God rest him ,and your mother and yourself, all the family.

Lord make me an instrument of Your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me show love,
where there is injury, pardon,
where there is doubt, faith,
where there is sadness, joy,
there there is despair, hope,
where there is darkness, light.
O Divine Master grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console,
to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love,
for it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Dear Lord please give comfort to Sara and bless her with peace and contentment where she lives for her own best interests.

Divine Mercy Chaplet

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!
O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!
O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
