I never got around to making a thread asking for my mom to get better because I thought she would pull-through, that surgery would remedy all her pain.

She never even got a chance to get on the surgical table.

I ask if you guys could say a special prayer for my mother, Janina. She wasn’t holy, she wasn’t perfect, she had her faults, but what she was, overall, she was more than good enough.

She taught me compassion, not only taught but showed what perfect love is, she was the backbone and bedrock to our family, who kept certain things under wraps so as not to make this family tattered; whatever problems befell us, she kept mum and tried to resolve it herself or tried to downplay anything we did wrong. She was a very giving person, she always donated money to charities even when we struggled financially ourselves, she was a very religious/spiritual person who always found comfort in the miracles of God and the works continued by those who follow Christ: tending to the needy, the poor, and the sick.

I ask if you can pray that God forgives all her sins, that she may enter His Kingdom and that she may be reunited with lost loved ones.

Thank you. God bless.

Eternal rest grant unto Janina, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.

We beseech Thee, Lord, help Janina whom You have redeemed with your Precious Blood.

O Mary, Mother of God and Mother of Mercy,
pray for Janina and for all who have died in God’s embrace. Amen.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.

Memorare (Prayer to Our Lady)
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

Thank you guys for the prayers. God bless you all.

It’s been a week since she passed away. She died around 6:50 A.M. on Friday. I have experienced loss before but none this close to home. We all seriously thought she would only need surgery, that she would get it, and that she would need 2-3 week to recuperate. We thought that the worst thing that will happen is that she would need a few days to rest at the hospital: in all likelihood, 5 days to heal properly and to check-up on her.

Last Thursday, on the way back home, I told dad that it looks like mom would need at least another two weeks in the hospital - with the weekend close-by and Columbus Day on Monday - and he said she could stay for a month; as long as she was going to come back home is all that mattered.

It never came to pass.

We’re all mourning and praying, and we - again - thank you guys for the prayers.

God bless.

usmaedchen, thank you for saying a prayer for my mom for these many days.

It’ll be two weeks tomorrow since my mom passed away. The pain is no longer as heavy but it’s still there. My mom was still so full of life when she first saw her doctor in June. She was even upbeat at times in September. We seriously did not believe it was cancer, nor did we give it a thought that she would die. I mean, we talked about remodeling the house, getting rid of old furniture when she would come back home from the hospital. She wanted me to get a new TV because my plasma TV overheats and there are noticeable lines whenever you turn on the TV. Actually, she wanted me to get a new TV even before that but I told her that the fall and winter will introduce lower prices due to the holidays.

The only thing I can do now is pray rosary novenas, with one day prayers said in English and the other day in my mother’s native tongue: Polish. Thankfully, I have found the rosary to be really easing some of the pain, to be really soothing.
