Prayers for my neighbourhood

Hi CAF members. 🙂

Over recent years, my home town has really gone downhill. Important public concerns have moved. The area in which I live, in particular, which I used to think was okay, now seems to contain an increasing amount of people who wish to cause trouble. I have to go around the area from time to time and find that people have to make a remark or be nosy, or try and be clever, or something. There is not a nice atmosphere present, now.

Please pray for the area in which I live.

Our home and our neighborhood should be our safe haven, in my opinion.

Prayer to St. Lydia of Thyatira

St. Lydia, you were the first convert St. Paul had. As a merchant of purple cloth, you were a prosperous and successful businesswoman. You are an inspiration to so many for your diligence, practicality, and willingness to embrace this new religion. Thank you for offering St. Paul and St. Timothy a place to stay, and for letting your home be the meeting place for Christians. Your house was an early church building!

St. Lydia, we humbly ask you to hear the petitions we present to you today, especially for friardchip’s neighborhood. Please present these prayers to Jesus, and do not cease interceding for us until He answers with mercy. Pray also that we may be brave about our faith and be willing to share the mercy and love of God with all we meet. Amen.

Some people have a strange way of being friendly. Sometimes they ask things just to make conversation and they are not being nosy at all. Also, they try to keep up with things going on for safety reasons. Perhaps you could give them the benefit of the doubt. If you still feel uncomfortable, look for a place to move. You have my prayers. God bless.
 
Prayer for a Declining Neighborhood
Lord Jesus Christ, our neighborhood was once a thriving area where people lived peaceful human lives and fruitful spiritual lives. Now it is in a state of continuous decline, where peace and harmony have given way to fear, suspicion, and chaos. Inspire those who remain to refrain from fleeing and to work together to build it up again. Make us all respect one another as we strive to restore our neighborhood into a place where people can live in peace and worship without fear. Amen.

For Help in Trials

Most holy apostle St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor who delivered your beloved Master into the hands of His enemies has caused you to be forgotten by many. But the Church honors and invokes you universally as the patron of hopeless cases–of things despaired of. Pray for me who feels so hopeless. Make use, I implore you, of that particular privilege accorded to you of bringing visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolations and succor of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, in particular (friardchips’s neighborhood), and that I may bless God with you and all the elect throughout eternity. I promise you, O Blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, and I will never cease to honor you as my special and powerful patron, and to do all in my power to encourage devotion to you. Amen.
