Before they got married in June, my son and his then fiance had worked out Christmas holidays so that one year, they would spend them with her family and the next with us. The 2 years that it has been our turn, prior to this year, they have left on the 26th in order to spend the rest of the Christmas holidays with her family. This year, my son called me to say they were coming for Christmas on the 21st but that they would be leaving on the 8am flight on Christmas morning to spend the holidays with her family and that we would have to have all of our Christmas celebrations on Christmas Eve.

Please pray that my son learns how to assert himself before it is too late and that my daughter-in-law learns that marriage is give and take and learns how to compromise. It is only going to breed resentment if he never gets what he wants but always has to give in to her. I don’t know what else to pray for. My emotions are all tied up in this and I am too close to see what prayers would be most effective.

Please pray for me too because I’m feeling very hurt about this and separated from my son. I don’t have much contact with him anymore and only get to see him every six months or so since we live 600 kilometres away from them while they live 15 minutes from her family and see them all the time.

Assert himself as you see he should? It seems that it is his life and sad as it may seem to you, really, it is his choice.

I’m so sorry for what you are going through. I understand as I live in Alabama and my child and grandchildren live in California. I haven’t seen them in almost a year. I’m praying for you and your son to at least be able to increase your visitation with each other.

Praying for your son. He does need to assert himself. He gets to see them all the time and therefore should insist that he gets to see you at least occasionally.

Sorry I asked. I’ll just have to accept that I have been cut completely out of my son’s life.

Pardon me for worrying about his marriage getting off to a rocky start since it is none of my business. It is after all his choice and if it all falls apart because one person in the marriage calls all the shots and runs roughshod over the others’ wants, then, well, too bad. He made his bed, he’ll have to sleep in it. His choice. None of my business, even to ask for prayers.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

I have placed your petitions within my heart and will carry them with me to Mass and I will remember your petitions in my daily prayers.

How very sad for you. I will keep you in my prayers and will pray especially for your son and his wife.

Keeping your son and daughter in law in prayer that God’s Will may unfold in them both and in their marriage…

Praying for you your son and his wife, i hope he sees the light and starts to stand up for himself :hug1:
