Prayers for my son and work

My 23 year old son has been looking for work for months, but has been unable to find any. He is depressed and has a learning disability, so the constant refusals at job interviews are difficult for him to take. He is saying he feels suicidal.
He has not had a real job yet, just temporary construction work. He was unable to pass the GED after 2 attempts.
Please ask our Lord and St Joseph to help him find work that he can do well.

Praying for your son to find suitable employment. If he feels suicidal I hope he can see a medical professional for those thoughts and receive some assistance.

This is a prayer thread so I add in a prayer that perhaps he could be helped by an agency that helps those with learning disabilities find employment if that is a possibility.

You who are the patron of workers; grant that unemployment may vanish from our ranks; that all those who are ready to work may put their strength and abilities in serving their fellowmen and earn a just salary.

You are the patron of families; do not let those who have children to support and raise lack the necessary means. Have pity on our brothers and sisters held down in unemployment and poverty because of sickness or social disorders. Help our political leaders and captains of industry find new and just solutions. May each and every one have the joy of contributing, according to his abilities, to the common prosperity by an honorable livelihood. Grant that we may all share together in the abundant goods God has given us and that we may help underprivileged countries. Amen.

Prayers for your son his future employers and for you.

If he’s talking suicide, just take him or make that call to a hotline.

Even people who haven’t has his particular struggles are struggling to find work. (I’ve had interviews for jobs I’m over qualified. Granted I’m re-entering after more than a decade because I had little noses to wipe and prayers to teach. 😉 I didn’t get any offers. I was upset, and then a thought occurred, “Maybe God didn’t want me there. He has his reasons, and I might find myself in the place He needs me. I just have to keep applying…”)

Your son is struggling now, but in the future he could be the one who helps kids just like himself!
