I have been struggling with a masturbation and pornography habit for some time now. I have resolved to never engage in these sins again.

However today i was tempted terribly, i didn’t give in but i though impurely about women and failed to remove myself from an occasion of sin.

I ask for your prayers, and advice (do i need to go to confession for impure thoughts)

Mary, Mother most pure, and Joseph, chaste guardian of the Virgin, to you I entrust the purity of my soul and body. I beg you to plead with God for me that I may never for the remainder of my life soil my soul by any sin of impurity. I earnestly wish to be pure in thought, word and deed in imitation of your own holy purity. Obtain for me a deep sense of modesty, which will be reflected in my external conduct. Protect my eyes, the windows of my soul, from anything that might dim the luster of a heart that must mirror only Christ-like purity. And when the “Bread of Angels” becomes my food in Holy Communion, seal my heart forever against the suggestions of sinful pleasures. Finally, may I be among the number of those of whom Jesus spoke, “Blessed are the pure of heart for they shall see God.” Amen

(St. Alfonso Mary de Liguori, Doctor of the Church)

Here is an article with good arguments against pornography.

Praying that the Lord may mercifully strengthen you with all necessary graces.

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

Confession would be good. You are starting to handle the situation, but thought impurely about women and placed yourself in the near occasion of sin. I myself have to make a trip to confession this week.

If you have any porn in any form or medium, get rid of it. When impure thoughts enter your mind, dispel them immediately and say a prayer. A woman is not an object, but a human being with a soul to be saved. That’s how I handle my temptations.

In the meantime, I would recommend an Act of Contrition and forge ahead. And trust in Jesus’ Divine Mercy.

God bless.

I think you showed great strength by not succumbing to temptation. For the future, fastidiously remove yourself from dangerous situations. Confession, with prayer, will provide all the weapons you need to fight this terrible evil.

I am praying for your continuing strength and purity, my dear. God bless you. x

Praying to the Holy Spirit to give you strength to overcome your temptations.

Praying for you in your struggle. Keep fighting this! You did well in resisting temptation to the extent which you did. Just keep working toward your goal, however imperfectly, with the help of the Holy Spirit.

I suggest you find a spiritual advisor who can help you in your efforts.

:blessyou:

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Amen.

I just said a prayer for your intention. God bless you.

P.S. Impurity of thought and putting oneself in the near occasion of sin needs to be confessed to a valid priest.

Dear Lord, show Your mercy towards this person and help them to gain control of themselves. Help them to reach out to others in servitude through volunteer work.
