O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

Have to phone surgeon’s office Monday. Did the written part of the pre-registration over the phone and was given 2 different dates by the hospital than those given by my surgeon’s scheduler. Have to get the dates straightened out before I go to the hospital.

Pray we get this cleared up.

The dates given by my surgeon’s scheduler stand. They called the hospital while I was on the line and straightened them out.

Excited and nervous. Today is my pre-op registration and my insides are having a fit.

Surgery is next Tuesday (Aug 7th) at 8am. Central Time. I have to be there at 6am. One of our friends will wait with Mama until the surgery’s over. (Mama’s sure I’m going to die on the table and is a nervous wreck.)

When the surgery’s over, I can expect to be swollen like the Goodyear Blimp and feel like crap. I will be on liquids only (High Protein Boost, Ensure and select juices) for a month.

What I need to know is how I’m going to swallow my meds. While I can skip some of them and will be off of 3 permanently after my surgery, there are several meds I can’t do without and being unable to swallow for a month while I heal is going to be difficult. Not sure if I’ll have IVs for those or not.

I’m spending these last few days getting the things I need for after my surgery, finishing tasks that can’t wait til I get back (won’t be able to lift more than 5 lbs) and writing down the questions I have in case I can’t talk after surgery. I’m going to be so swollen that it’s a possibility.

I’m not nervous about the surgery itself. I’m eager to have it. Was supposed to have it in April. But they erred on the side of caution when certain areas of my throat lit up during the pre-tests. My biopsy showed nothing wrong . So I had to be cleared by each of my drs so surgery could be rescheduled.

Now we are back to the few days before surgery and praying the surgery happens this time.

I’ll post again before leaving for the hospital. If I can’t post myself after the surgery, I’ll have my mother do it. I should still be logged in from the morning update. 😊

Good to hear that.
Heavenly Father, grant me joyful acceptance of the surgery which awaits me, and let this be the relief and cure which I seek. Make skilled the work of the surgeon and that of his team for it is unto their knowledge and skill that I give myself for healing. I pray to You, O Lord, that this procedure will be without complication, and that my recovery will be speedy and complete. Amen.
