My Nephew passed away yesterday. He was only 5 and had cerebral palsy and passed away due to complications with that and pnemonia.

And I’ve gotten sick of all this atheistic thoughts plagueing my mind. My family is in grieving and I’m hoplessly selfish.

Sorry for the rant…but I really came on to ask to pray for my family.

thank you for your time

You and your family will be in my prayers. I know this is a very, very hard time for all of you. I lost a cousin of mine when she was only 3 and I just kept telling myself “Someday God will let me know why”.
We don’t always have the answers here on Earth, but everything that happens is part of the master plan. The Lord makes everything good. Trust in Him completely. This is a time when you need Him the most!

I am incredibly sorry for your loss. May your nephew be in Peace.

God Bless,

I was doing some reading tonight and saw this about “faith”. I thought I would share it with you to help you and comfort you during this time!

Believing The Truth

Faith is believing in what is true. Faith has two elements: 1) being convinced of the truth, being certain of reality, having evidence of unseen things, and 2) believing, hoping in, embracing, seizing the truth.

Heb 11:1 - Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen.

While faith requires being convinced that what we believe in is true, just knowing the truth is only half of faith. God’s word must be hoped for, embraced, seized!

Believing is not exactly the same as faith. For belief to be faith, it must light on what is certainly true. Yet Scripture gives examples of situations where belief alone is required, even commanded. There’s no time for evidence collection, to wait, to hear, for certainty. Just believe. Like Peter walking on the water–don’t think, act!** God even requires us to believe in him when, temporarily, the evidence looks bad: to trust.** [We will study belief and trust separately.] God requires belief and trust in moments of** human weakness, but faith is what makes us strong.** Faith is the state of being convinced about what we hope for. :blessyou:

Oh m goodness I am so very sorry to hear of your sad loss. How very sad for you and your family.May God bless you and comfort you all in the family at this time.

Lord, God
you are attentive to the voice of our pleading.
Let us find in your Son comfort in our sadness,
certainty in our doubt,
and courage to live through this hour.
Make our faith strong through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

For those who trust in God,
in the pain of sorrow there is consolation,
in the face of despair there is hope,
in the midst of death there is life.

As we mourn the death of this child,
we place ourselves in the hands of God and ask strength,
for healing, and for love.

Lord, whose ways are beyond understanding,
listen to the prayers of your faithful people:
that those weighed down by grief
at the loss of this [little] child
may we find reassurance in your infinite goodness.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Lovelywolf,

I offer my deepest sympathy to you and your family … for the loss of your precious nephew. May he rest peacefully in God’s loving arms.

May God bless you and your family with courage and peace as you go through this time of suffering.

Lenten blessings,
Kathleen

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. And may Your Perpetual Light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.
Amen.

Thankyou everyone on here for your condolences. His Rosary mass is tonight and I could only immagine what my older brother and his wife are going through.

I’m not even sure what to say to him when I see him. This is the first time I’ll be facing a death in the family since I’ve become fully immersed into my faith. I’ve convinced myself that I was comfortable with death, but then it actually comes along and I’m a little lost.

Especially now that it’s Lent and my emotions have been feeling just as dry and barren. I feel just as lonely as Jesus did in the Garden of Gethsemane. I mean I have my family around and my friends check in on me, but then again I feel so distant and on my own here.

Of course I’m doing all the prayers I possibly can for my greiving family, but I don’t feel as if I’ve done enough.

Lovelywolf:

Prayers for your nephew and family will be said at morning Mass tomorrow. My heart just breaks for you. God Bless You.

There is nothing selfish about a natural recent grief.
My parish priest says that doubts about God are a spring-board to finding deeper faith. I pray it will be so for you.
Facing and going through family tragedies, and the contemplation of a little boy suffering, and then his death,
and living through the dreadful grief of the family…it isn’t unnatural to question God and God’s loving kindness, so don’t be too hard on yourself.

The apostles of Jesus, excepting John, demonstrated their questioning of who Jesus is, whether He was in fact God and Saviour, is clearly evident in their abandoning Him in the apparent scandal of His death and seeming failure of His mission at that time, and their hiding away after His death…so it’s hardly surprising that you may have doubts. They knew Him personally, but in their humanity they doubted.

May God help you and your family through this, and help you to find deeper faith.

Love, Trishie

Death is nothing at all.

Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away into the next room.
I am I, and you are you. Whatever we were to each other that we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference in your tone, wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.

Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was,
let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was; there is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner.

All is well.
