We got a 7 week old puppy yesterday, we noticed she was pooping a little blood last night, but her poop, we went through a parvo scare, and started bleaching everything, but took her to the vet today, who asked for a stool sample. The vet said that she didn’t have parvo, because she had well formed poop, and didn’t have any of the symptoms. She checked for worms, she said she didn’t have any worms, but may have parasites, and dewormed her. Well, tonight when she tries to poop a few splats of liquid with blood come out, which is worrying me, the vet didn’t actually do a parvo test. She doesn’t seem to be sick though, she’s eating and drinking her water, very playful, but I can’t help but worry, and I have two other dogs, which adds on to the worry. 😦

Heavenly Father,
Please help us in our time of need,
You have made us stewards of this puppy
If it is Your will, please restore him
to health and strength.
I pray too for other animals in need.
May they be treated with the care and respect
deserving of all Your creation.
Blessed are You Lord God,
and holy is Your name for ever and ever
Amen

That your pup is eating and drinking makes me think that it’s not parvo. Why the vet didn’t do the parvo test at the same time as the test for parasites baffles me. It only takes 15 minutes to do the test  For your peace of mind, I’d get it done. Has she been constipated? Does she strain when relieving herself? It could be that her little bottom is irritated. But I think she’ll be fine. Prayers…

O Blessed Saint Roch, patron of dogs, have pity on those animals who lie upon a bed of suffering. Your power was so great when you were in this world, that by the Sign of the Cross, many–both man and animal–were healed of their diseases. Now that you are in Heaven, your power is not less. Offer, then, to God our sighs and tears and obtain for us the health of Sneaux’s puppy. This we ask through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Saint Roch, pray for her, that she may be preserved from all diseases of the body and soul.

Praying to St. Francis for your pet’s well being.

I am not praying for a pet’s soul, but praying for the pet’s improved health, which benefits the person who owns the pet, making them happy and relieved. I am praying for them…

Saying prayers that the vet will figure out what’s going on, and that your puppy will be OK.
Lord, because you love and care for us, you also care about those things that matter to us, and you love every creature you have made. Please heal this little puppy.

If your vet did not do a parvo test you need another vet. One of our dogs had parvo and was barely saved. When it hit at first it was not that obvious, but once it took hold you could just watch him waste away before your eyes. He had to have blood transfusions and was in the hospital for three weeks.

There should not be blood in your puppies stool. Please see another vet now.

my 18 year old dog has similar illness…will be asking St. Francis and St… .Martin de Porres for both of our fur babies…

Almighty and Generous Providence
how great the variety of living things,
You have put at our disposal!
You told our first parents:
“I give you all the animals of the land.”
Some can be used as food,
or for labor or transportation,
but also for our companionship and recreation.

Bless this animal.
May it carry out the function it has been given
and may it aid us to think of You its Creator
and give praise and thanks to You forever.
We ask this in the name of Jesus our Lord.

Yeah, she’s been and drinking well the entire time we’ve had her, and her poop looks better than it did last night, it seems to have some shape and isn’t just liquid(sorry I know that’s gross) but she doesn’t seem to be constipated. I asked the same thing, my sister was the one who took her for the vet, I have no idea why she didn’t do the actual test.

Thank everyone for their prayers <3

You are incorrect. The Catholic Church teaches that animals have souls; not the equivalent of human souls, but souls nonetheless. Please see the CCC:
2416 Animals are God’s creatures. He surrounds them with his providential care. By their mere existence they bless him and give him glory.196 Thus men owe them kindness. We should recall the gentleness with which saints like St. Francis of Assisi or St. Philip Neri treated animals.
We owe them kindness, physical and spiritual, if necessary. There is absolutely no prohibition against praying for pets. If the saints did it, that’s good enough for me, and, I think, for the rest of the posters here. If you don’t agree with the prayer intention, walk on by.

Saint Francis of Assisi, for Sick Animals

Heavenly Father, you created all things for your glory and made us stewards of the natural world. If it is your will, restore Sneaux’s puppy to health and strength. Blessed are you, Lord God, and holy is your name for ever and ever. Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.

In the prayer forum, the emphases are prayer, love, and nurturing, always. If you don’t agree with the theological underpinnings of a prayer, it would be great if you could set up a discussion for your objections on another board. There are several. That would be a great way to pass on your ideas while letting our prayers move forward.

God bless you!!
