Prayers for Prenatal Anxiety/Depression

Asking for prayers for my prenatal anxiety and depression. I’ve had it since about Week 25 and it seems to only be getting worse (now at Week 34). It’s making even the simplest of tasks seem unbearable and I’m having the worst thoughts take over my mind. I was finally able to get an appointment with a counselor this coming Tuesday. My midwife/nurse also suggested medication, but I’m terrified to take it in case it will affect the baby or delivery. Please pray for me so I can make the healthiest choice for my family.

Prayer of St. Dymphna

Lord, our God, You graciously chose St. Dymphna as
patroness of those afflicted with mental, emotional, and
nervous disorders. She is thus an inspiration and a symbol
of charity to the thousands who ask her intercession.

Please grant, Lord, through the prayers of this pure,
youthful martyr, relief and consolation to all suffering
such trials –– especially the OP, for whom we pray.

We beg You, Lord, to hear the prayers of St. Dymphna
on her behalf. Grant all those for whom we pray patience
in their sufferings and resignation to Your divine will.
Please fill them with hope, and grant them the relief and
cure they so desire. We ask this through Christ our Lord,
who suffered agony in the garden. Amen.
 
Prayers for peace and relief from the anxiety.

Definitely talk to your doctor, he’ll let you know what meds are safe and which aren’t. Ultimately don’t do something you’re not comfortable doing though.

Thank you everyone. I spoke with my midwife again today and she started me on a low dose.
She said I should find out if it’s making me better or worse within the next two weeks and to try to have someone around me who can attest to any change in symptoms. However, my husband is out of town for work again through next Friday and will probably be leaving on a trip a couple of days after that. I don’t have any friends or family nearby. Please pray for me and pray that the medication will bring about positive changes. I’m scared about the idea of getting worse when I have no one around me.
