I am so sick of struggling with masturbation! I want to never ever do it again, but nothing seems to work in resisting the siren call. I’ve struggled with it for several years and I hate how it separates me from God, I hate the cycle I go through of vowing to never do it again and then failing. I always go through cycles where I’ve confessed, and start praying more regularly, and think I’ve given it up for good then end up relapsing after a month or two. One of my parents is also addicted to sex so I don’t know if any of it may also be hereditary. Please also pray for my parent and another sibling to be able to overcome the addiction as well! I would like to be able to consecrate myself to Mary if I can only kick this habit for good.
Thanks and God bless.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

I shall pray for your intention when I do the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy.

St. Maria Goretti, pray for us! Mother inviolate, pray for us! All you holy martyrs, pray for us! All you angels and saints, pray for us!

Praying…

Hey I know exactly what you’re going through. What helped me was mainly having greater access to the sacraments and adoration now that I’m in college, and getting to spend time with some wonderful and holy people. Also a trick I learned was to recognize the signs–watch out for boredom and for having long periods of time with nothing to do. You always have something to do! The easiest time to say No is before you’re even tempted. Once the idea of masturbation pops into your head, put it down immediately; go do something to take your mind off it. As you continue to encourage the thought, your brain will begin to douse itself in pleasure hormones, and resisting will get exponentially harder. Again, do everything you can not to let yourself get this far, but…
In order to quit recognize that eventually you’re going to have stand up to the temptation even like this. Try to start associating wanting to masturbate with prayer, even though it seems wrong. Your mind won’t slip into prayer mode in this state easily, but once you do you’ll have a fighting chance. If you allow it you’ll of course have saintly help here too…
And recognize finally that the sin you’re struggling with is a petty one; lust is the least of the seven deadly sins. Don’t let it bring it’s bigger, meaner friends in with it–don’t let it make you want to decrease your prayer life, or lose you zeal for growing closer to God.

Hope this helped,
Greg

Hi, this quote caught my attention. You don’t need to kick this habit first in order to consecrate yourself to Mary. Go to confession, consecrate yourself to Our Lady and she will help you!

Praying for you!🙂

Praying for you and your family.
Christ is with you and loves you and knows you love him too.
Lord have mercy on us sinners. Praised be Jesus Christ!

Prayer for the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Your Nativity, O Virgin Mother of God, was the herald of joy to the whole world; since from you arose the Sun of Justice, Christ our God, who, destroying the curse, bestowed the blessing, and confounding death, rewarded us with life everlasting.

V. Let us celebrate with joy the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
R. That she may intercede for us with Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Let us pray:
Grant to us your servants, we beseech you, O Lord, the gift of Your heavenly grace, that as our salvation was begun in the child-bearing of the Blessed Virgin, so from this solemn festival of her Nativity may we obtain an increase of peace. Through Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Praying to the Holy Spirit to give you guidance, direction, strength, fortitude & wisdom to overcome your temptations.

*O most beautiful Flower of Mount Carmel, Fruitful Vine, Splendor of Heaven, who brought forth the Son of God still remaining a Virgin, assist us in this necessity. O Star of the Sea, help us, and show us that you are our Mother.

O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and earth, we humbly ask you from the depths of our heart to help us in this necessity. There are none who can withstand your power. O show us that you are our Mother.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee. Sweet Mother, we place this cause in your hands. Amen*
