Just to expand on your pt. —let us take a look at the following statement. Some jews concern might be Church doctrine etc---- so what should we then do — how far would we be expected to go. Alter/change our Church doctrine to alleviate their concern.

it seems clear to me that Church doctrine is NOT the problem rather it was the application of this doctrine - coupled with selective reading of Church doctrine.

The probability could be — that some will still view Church doctrine as the source ---- therefore to alleviate the concern — the source needs to go.

My point was not to say that Jews have a right to influence Church doctrine/policy. But that it is unreasonable to assume that Jews will remain silent, given abuses of the past, when we preceive a shift in Church teachings that can adversely affect us.

And I can understand the concern, but anyone who tries to dictate doctrine is not just simply voicing a concern, they are forcibly telling us how to believe.

In any case, the problem was not Church doctrine - if one really understood what the Church teaches they would realize that persecution is evil - the faith cannot be forced. To believe that the faith can be forced through persecution and violence is tantamount to believing that faith isn’t a result of grace but rather human hands.

From the new article I read, they are removing the terms of blindess and darkness but still keeping the call to conversion.cwnews.com/news/viewstory.cfm?recnum=56044

I personally disagree with the decision, but that’s me. I guess if you call it blindness, darkness, stupidity, pig-headedness or any other terms it’s still the same thing. We know the truth and we want them to join us.

The logic is probably: If we can say this without ticking a bunch of people off who had no business being ticked off about it in the first place without changing the meaning, why not. We have a very undeserved bad reputation in the modern world, perhaps if we show that we are willing to be nice, but not change what we believe, more people would be willing to see what we are about.

At least that’s my analysis from the sidelines.
