Faith has told me “God helps those who help themselves” but sometimes we need that push in the right direction and we need our brothers and sisters to reach down into the pit we’ve fallen into and help us. When the homeless look to you for a donation, they are not always looking to get a drink or to waste it on something unhelpful, sometimes they are just looking for someone to show them a reason to continue. Sometimes, they look to this little donation as a vehicle of their own salvation and can use it to pull themselves up with just a simple random act of kindness from a total stranger and that is why I am posting this here.
When I discovered this method of helping people, I realized I stumbled onto something that could be a global good for those who need help and support. Even though I had no money of my own that I could give nor could I give up my day job to help build a house for Habitat for Humanity in my area, I knew there was something I could do. So I built the website
DigitalCollectionPlate.com and my very first action after I built it was to contact these organizations and tell them that, with their support and endorsement, we could raise money for their causes and help people out of their dilemmas.
What happened, at first, was reservation and doubt. No body knew me, no one knew my business and all I had was a huge project and a massive debt, the development of this site has cost me and my business partner over $45,000 in the last eight months thousands upon thousands of man hours to make it work.
Now, I’m calling out to everyone who wishes to help with charitable causes but may not have the discretionary income to donate their own money. Simply by answering questionnaires, product surveys and polls about consumer goods and services, you make a “Micro-Donation” to the cause you select and the advertiser floats the bill for you. The premise of the website is “Donate time, not money” and this is the foundation that we have built. So far, we have Make-A-Wish, Habitat for Humanity, Humane Society, Two churches and several smaller causes on the site, as well as a rescue mission for a homeless family in West Virginia who suffered catastrophic loss recently.
I do hope that people see this and go to help, I pray that we all pull together and realize that we can easily accumulate a great deal of donations by a simple act of clicking a mouse button and filling out a form. The donations are very small right now (Hence “Micro-Donations”) but as we continue to grow, we will negotiate larger and more profitable donations from these organizations. We cannot, however, get there without enough support.
We take absolutely nothing from the donations, 100% is given to the cause or organization that the money is raised for so you can rest assured that your time and effort is rewarded and your donation is well given.
Again, never will anyone ask money or for your personal information on this site. It’s designed for both anonymous and recorded efforts, so you may easily just contribute on your own without the need of showing off your efforts.
Thank you, everyone for your support and help through many of my own troubles and doubts and thank you for choosing to support these worthy causes with a simple use of a few moments of your time. Please, simply go
here and participate. We can all make a difference if we all reach out and help those who need it.
