Eternal God , in whom mercy is endless,
and the treasury of compassion inexhastible ,
look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us ,
that in difficult moments we might not despair
nor become despondent , but with great confidence ,
submit ourselves to Your Holy Will ,
which is love and mercy itself . Amen

Jesus I entreat You to embrace the hearts of the unemployed and the homeless,
the neglected and the lonely, the desperate and the despairing…
through the practical love and personal kindness of others,
to provide affordable shelter;
and where there is need, to help them to rehabilitate;
to obtain where necessary required medication or counselling;
to supply education, jobs, retraining, or support;

Bring to them those who are respectfully willing to share their food with them;
and with genuine love and wise practicality,
to affirm their unique sacredness.
and to inspire them to have faith in Your merciful love, and their eternal destiny with You.

Our love “is not to be mere words or mere talk, but something real and active; only by this can we be certain that we are children of the truth.” [John 3:18-19]

“Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You; or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and make You welcome; naked and clothe You; sick or in prison and go to see You?” Jesus replies “I tell you solemnly, in so far as you did this to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it to me.” “In so far as you neglected to do this to one of the least, you neglected to do it to me.” [Matthew 25:37-40, 45-46]

We pray to you, Lord, with honest hearts, in tune with one another, entreating you with sighs and tears, as befits our humble position–placed, as we are, between the spiritually weak who have no concern for you, and the saints who stand firm and upright before you. We pray that you may soon come to us, leading us from darkness to light, oppression to freedom, misery to joy, conflict to peace. May you drive away the storms and tempests of our lives, and bring gentle calm. We pray that you will care for us, as a father cares for his children. Amen.

ALL CLASSES OF PEOPLE

O Lord, we bring before You
the distress and dangers of peoples and nations,
the pleas of the imprisoned and the captive,
the sorrows of the grief-stricken,
the needs of the refugee,
the impotence of the weak,
the weariness of the despondent,
and the diminishments of the aging.
O Lord, stay close to all of them.

Amen.
 
Holy Virgin Mary, you are reigning in glory, with Jesus, your Son.
Remember us in our sadness. Look kindly on all who are suffering
or fighting against any difficulty.
Have pity on those who are separated from someone they love.
Have pity on the loneliness of our hearts.
Have pity on the weakness of our faith and love.
Have pity on those who are weeping, on those who are praying, on those who are fearful.
Holy Mother, please obtain for all of us hope and peace with justice.

God of compassion,

your love for humanity was revealed in Jesus,

whose earthly life began in the poverty of a stable

and ended in the pain and isolation of the cross:

we hold before you those who are homeless and cold

especially in this bitter weather.

Draw near and comfort them in spirit

and bless those who work to provide them

with shelter, food and friendship.

We ask this in Jesus’ name.

PRAYER FOR HOMELESS CHILDREN

Eternal Father… reach out with Your tender love and mercy to those pitiful children who wander the streets at night…
With Your unfathomable love and mercy, bring them back to their families, or to a home You choose for them.
Jesus… through Your Divine Mercy, enable us to help these poor children, with our deeds, and with our prayers.
Holy Spirit… lead many to reach out in love to poor children in distress.
Mother Mary… send out Your Mother’s love to those poor children who have never really known the love and tenderness of an earthly mother.
We unite this prayer with all prayers offered to the Eternal Father this day for the lonely, distressed, and homeless children and people of the world.
Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen.
