All; I have found myself through the most interesting set of circumstances on discussion boards with many fellow mentally ill seeking healing, seeking hope. I found the one thread which was supposed to be one of faith filled with new age jargon, and strangely enough, more mentally ill with mixed up ideas of God.

I suffer with many maladies that are classified as mental disorders, but was gifted by our Lord with a love of scripture and find much solace in the Word.

So, each day I post the readings from our Church in this thread, and sometimes comment and hopefully encourage others to find hope in Jesus. (I have asked for permission from the USCCB to do so, but they have yet to reply, so do so anyhow.)

I ask that you all pray for me and for those I have the great joy to meet on these discussion boards. I have found so much encouragement in knowing that I am not alone, and I am awed that God has honored me in such a way to be His light in my weakness.

Gracious and merciful Father, please come to their assistance.

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.

Heavenly Father,

Please help me to honor you and the saints in my words and through your most holy Word to encourage those who are despondent, those who are hurting, those who are angry, those who find themselves in danger or a danger to themselves. Provide me with discernment of spirits, and all the gifts of the Holy Spirit as I evangelize in your most awesome yet simple ways. Help me not to be the message, but the messenger, yet let me be honest an in my own weakness, let me share the strength of Jesus Christ and Holy Mother Church; with the love of the Immaculate Virgin Mary, and all the holy saints as witnesses, sharing and empowered by the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit; Amen.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Praying for your intentions

O Christ Jesus,
when all is darkness
and we feel our weakness and helplessness,
give us the sense of Your presence,
Your love, and Your strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
in Your protecting love
and strengthening power,
so that nothing may frighten or worry us,
for, living close to You,
we shall see Your hand,
Your purpose, Your will through all things.
Amen.

Hear us, O God, our Savior, as we honor St. Dymphna, patron of those afflicted with mental and emotional illness. Help us to be inspired by her example and comforted by her merciful help. Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady of Mental Peace

O Lady of Mental Peace,
Mother of Tranquility
and Mother of Hope,
look upon Kay Grace in this time
of weakness and unrest.

Teach her searching heart
to know that God’s Love
for her is unchanging and
unchangeable, and, that
true human love can only
begin and grow by touching
His Love.

Let your gentle Peace -
which this world cannot give
  • be always with her.
And, help her to bring this
    same Peace into the lives
    of others.
Our Lady of Mental Peace,
  • Pray for us!
    Amen.
Jesus, Help Me!

In every need let me come to You with humble trust,
saying:
Jesus, help me!
In all my doubts, perplexities, and temptations:
Jesus, help me!
In hours of loneliness, weariness and trials:
Jesus, help me!
In the failure of my plans and hopes, in disappointments,
troubles and sorrows:
Jesus, help me!
When others fail me, and Your Grace alone can assist me:
Jesus, help me!
When I throw myself on Your tender Love as Savior:
Jesus, help me!
When my heart is cast down by failure, at seeing no good
come from my efforts:
Jesus, help me!
When I feel impatient, and my cross irritates me:
Jesus, help me!
When I am ill, and my head and hands cannot work and
I am lonely:
Jesus, help me!

Always, always, in spite of weakness, falls and short-
comings of every kind:
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, help me and never forsake me!

Amen

Amen, Kay Grace! I have recently had a mental
breakdown due to neglecting to take my meds,
and in one episode, ended up stabbing and cutting
myself in the foot/legs and abdomen so that I looked
like the demoniac described in Mark 5:5!!!
Some of the people who treated me noted that
I had crucifixes and Bibles and Christian pictures all
over the apartment walls and falsely concluded that
it was my RELIGION that caused me to lose my
mind(See Acts 26:24), indeed I was in the mental
ward of the hospital for 20 days over the holidays
and was persecuted for my Catholic faith MANY
TIMES there!

Remember, O gracious Virgin Mary,
that never has it been known that anyone who
fled to you for protection, implored your help or sought your intercession
was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, WE fly to you O Virgin of virgins,
my Mother. To you we come, before you we stand, sinful and sorrowful,
O mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not our petitions,
but in your mercy, hear and answer us!!!
Amen,

Thank you ALL, Please Continue to Pray!

Some people are trapped due to financial circumstances while trying to rear children and take care of themselves.

One gal today needs your prayers as she faces an abusive relationship but due to finances feels she has no choice but to put up for the abuse and the abuse of her mentally disabled son.

Please pray for her, today, for peace, courage and discernment!

Heavenly Father, help my friend you know to discern and feel hopeful about what it is she needs to do in order to take care of her family and herself.

“indeed I was in the mental
ward of the hospital for 20 days over the holidays
and was persecuted for my Catholic faith MANY

It is so true that many delusions are based and founded in religious ideas! I find many people I deal with either very skeptical, or off the deep end.

But in reality, most of those can discern for themselves if it is real or Memorex.

For instance: If they have a relationship with Jesus Christ, they know when the voices are not from Him.

Most anger is self-directed, but I have gotten some ire from those in authority that claim to be reverends and pastors, but not from fellow Christians or those looking for prayer.

When I think posting the scripture is a moot practice, someone will come on and thank me for doing so.

Thanks again for all the prayers.

Prayer of St. Dymphna

Lord, our God, you graciously chose St. Dymphna as patroness of those afflicted with mental, emotional, and nervous disorders. She is thus an inspiration and a symbol of charity to the thousands who ask her intercession.

Please grant, Lord, through the prayers of this pure youthful martyr, relief and consolation to all suffering such trials.

We beg you, Lord, to hear the prayers of St. Dymphna on our behalf. Grant all those for whom we pray patience in their sufferings and resignation to your divine will.

Please fill them with hope, and grant them the relief and cure they so desire. We ask this through Christ our Lord who suffered agony in the garden. Amen.
