Hello, CAF friends,
My daughter, who is about 20 weeks pregnant, had a follow-up ultrasound today. Though things looked normal structurally, with a good heartbeat, size, etc., there was evidence of slight fluid buildup in the baby’s abdomen (abdominal ascites.) This can mean any one of a number of things, from urinary blockage to chromosomal problems to something viral…or it can resolve on its own.
Needless to say, she and my sweet SIL are quite worried and upset; they will see a high risk OB in the morning for further ultrasound and a discussion of the ramifications. They have already taken many vials of blood to test for a range of viruses. We had been afraid previously about a possible exposure to cytomegalovirus, but that test was apparently negative.
Please keep the baby, my daughter and SIL in your prayers. (And me, as I’m a bit of a nervous wreck worrying about all of them!)
Thank you, as always.
