Prayers for young mom and baby

Please pray for my cousin Joanie and her son. She developed HELLP syndrome and her baby was delivered at 28 weeks. He is doing well for his gestational age (breathing with minimal assistance, starting to show signs of sucking reflex), but at 28 weeks he will have a long road ahead to good health. Joanie is in more danger right now. Her liver function was nonexistent yesterday. Today, she showed signs of improvement, much to her doctor’s surprise. He told her father that if they had been praying, they should keep it up, because he had no other explanation for the changes. She is waiting for a liver to become available for transplant. We are praying that this young mom be restored to health so she can enjoy her son.

Lord, you so graciously trusted the life of this baby to Joanie to care for, and nurture in her loving womb. She calls out to you now Lord, for your divine assistance. Her body is weak, but her will is strong.
Help her Lord, grant her strength, and faith in you, that she may hold this precious life you so lovingly offered her, in maternal embrace. Stay by her bedside, Lord, and watch over her and her child as they put all their faith in you to restore their lives,so that they may go forward together giving praise and thanks to you, their merciful and loving Father.

Father, we beg of you to heal Joanie and send the transplant that she needs to survive. Give her strength to handle what comes her way and allow her to live a fruitful life and raise this precious baby. Send your special angels to surround Joanie, her baby, and her entire family. Let no evil thing near them. Guide the doctors and nurses in the care of her and the baby. We ask this in the name of Jesus. AMEN

Joanie received a liver transplant today. The surgery went well. The next 48 hours are critical to find out if she will reject the liver. The doctors said her liver was, in fact dying, and that it was a miracle that it had functioned long enough for them to find a matching liver. Thank you all for your prayers! God has heard them.

Her baby is doing well - he has grown from 1 pound 11 ounces to 2 pounds 1 ounce!

We continue to pray for this young mother and her precious little baby. May our Father in heaven give her the strength to overcome this illness. May he bless her with health and happiness as she watches her young son grow.
