Prayers Needed for My Father

First, I apologize if I seem to ramble but I’ve been deprived of sleep for the last 24 hours and haven’t had much time to collect my thoughts.

My father, John, has been fighting a battle with esophageal cancer for nearly a year and is in need of some prayers. He was diagnosed last May with Stage III adenocarcinoma and has since deteriorated into Stage IV with multiple metasteses to the liver, femur, pelvis, and spine.

This past year as been filled with many joys as well as many sorrows, my family has been blessed with many loving relatives and friends that have supported us spiritually and physically through this trying time.

Wednesday night my father fell in the bathroom and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. While he broke no bones he was admitted with pneumonia. At first he responded to the antibiotics but has since been coughing up blood and the chest x-ray and CT scan have shown multiple nodules in his lungs.

This afternoon he had a bronchoscopy in order to biopsy the nodules and see if there has been metastasis to the lungs. We will not know the results of the biopsy for a few days and my father has become very anxious and agitated. He’s having panic attacks every few hours and the medicine he’s being administered doesn’t seem to help.

I ask God to grant us the grace and courage to deal with whatever His plan has in store for us and that my father may find solace and offer up his suffering in recognition of the Passion or Lord Jesus endured. Also I ask that the Holy Spirit comfort my father and bring him peace.

Additionally my family has been asking the Blessed Bishop Theodore G. Romzha to intercede for us in the healing of my father’s illness. Blessed Theodore was bishop of the eparchy where my grandfather lived in the Ukraine and was martyred for his faith. We ask that the Lord glorify Blessed Theodore and grant the healing of my father through his intercession. Please pray for this intention if you would as well.

Prayer for the Glorification of Bishop Theodore Romzha

O gracious Lord, in Your infinite goodness You have given us a fearless Bishop, Theodore G. Romzha, who by his uncommon courage, sufferings, and violent death gave heroic testimony to his unshakable Faith and inspired our people to hold fast to their Faith in a time of persecution. Therefore, we humbly beseech You to glorify Your faithful servant, that man of Faith, Bishop Theodore, and to strengthen our Faith by granting us help for Michael Varga’s father through his intercession. For You are a merciful and gracious God, and we glorify You, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and forever, Amen.
 
The biopsy results came back this afternoon–has cancer throughout his lungs and the doctors at best guess say he only has three weeks left with us.

Of course only God knows any mans time and I ask for your continued prayers for my father and my family.

I am so sorry for your fathers illness and the most recent bad news of the lung metastasis. Praying for your father and your whole family.

Dear Jesus, Divine Physician and Healer of the Sick, we turn to You in this time of illness. 0 dearest Comforter of the Troubled, alleviate their worry and sorrow with Your gentle love, and grant them the grace and strength to accept this burden. Dear God, we place our worries in Your hands. We place our sick under Your care and humbly ask for strength for the family. Above all, grant us the grace to acknowledge Your Holy Will and know that whatsoever You do, You do for the love of us. Amen.
