I’m embarrassed to admit these here but I missed Mass today, Easter Sunday. I was to go with my parents this morning but I woke up with a terrible migraine, and medication wasn’t effective (migraines aren’t just headaches, they are much worse and often include intense nausea). I still wanted to go to mass so I went back to bed and rested in the morning to mitigate the migraine but I wasn’t well enough to attend when my family went. I have been in bed all day, missed going out to dinner with my family and grandmother. I still feel not 100% myself but better than I was earlier.

Is this a mortal sin? I’m going to go to confession tomorrow. Anyway, I feel terrible because it’s the holiest day of the year. Prayers, feedback desired. Thank you.

You have no guilt and you have incurred no mortal sin. You were ill, so you had no obligation.

Be at peace, and trust in the mercy of God.

Prayer for Healing

Lord, look upon frumacat with eyes of mercy. May Your healing
hand rest upon her, soothing her pain. May Your life-giving
powers flow into every cell of her body, ridding her of the misery
of migraines forever. May Your healing love flow into the depths
of frumacat’s soul, cleansing, purifying, restoring her to wholeness
and strength for service in Your Kingdom. Through Christ
Our Lord, Amen.

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Absolutely not a mortal sin, nor any kind of sin at all. You were not well. I also missed the Divine Liturgy today because I stayed home with my daughter, who had a fever yesterday. I am sad about it and it was a sacrifice that I did not easily make, especially since she seemed fine all day today. But it was the right and prudent decision, despite my sadness. It seems yours was too and guilt is entirely misplaced here

It is not mortal sin.

If you have to question whether or not it was a mortal sin, then it wasn’t a mortal sin.

No! You’re OK! I have chronic pain and depression. There are some Sundays, I start to move and cancel. I spoke w the priest and if we are sick, it’s not a sin. We have enough things over which to feel guilty. This isn’t one of them.
You wanted to go!! It’s great that you wanted to go. Sometimes you can watch Mass in TV.
Be st peace!

I’m sorry you couldn’t go to Mass, migraines can be so awful. You wanted to go but you were ill, you did nothing wrong there.

I am so sorry to hear you were ill. ❤️ My mom had terrible migraines when I was a little girl and I remember how sick they would make her.

I’m very glad you feel better and hope that continues.

I almost never go to Mass. I am disabled and a lady from my parish brings me Communion. Sometimes, if I am having an extremely good day, I try to go to Mass. I miss Mass so much.

Plus migraines are no joke. I pray Our Heavenly frees you from them.

Thank you njlisa for your prayers. I hope you have more extremely good days.

It was not your intention to miss. Yes, Easter is a significant celebration, but missing wasn’t your fault!

I’ve said before…God isn’t playing ‘gotcha’…if you are unwell, you are unwell!

Hope you get better and find something to alleviate the migraines…my wife suffers from them too, but they have come less and less frequently as she has gotten older!

Sweetheart,
Side issue concerning migraines. I’m sure, you had a neuro workup. They use certain meds. I forget some. I know Inderal was used. Dilated blood vessels and better blood circulation.Migraines are caused by allergies or reaction to certain foods—cheese, wine, chocolate? ETC.
They are using BOTOX w success.
But, music therapy w a central sound wave therapy. Google Sound wave therapy for dogs. HAHA! When you google dogs it will show you the site that covers waves for other things, like studying.

Orthodox Easter is April 8th. So, you still have time to attend.

I plan to! I feel deprived that I missed Pascha at my own parish, so I’m going to go to the Ukrainian Catholic parish, which is Old Calendar.
