Over the last few months, I’ve had to pray very hard for my son, who was at a crossroads in his life. We needed 3 things to happen, and each did. It was remarkable. Two were beyond his control, and the third he was going to need a lot of help to overcome.

He has always had a good Faith, but now we know the power of God, the Blessed Mother (Rosary) and the Communion of Saints. For almost 3 months we rattled the gates of heaven.

All 3 thing came to pass in a stunning turn of events. Any one would have been a great gift but all 3? But we placed all this in God’d Hands from the beginning.

I’m not sure, how to thank Him? Just doing so in prayer does not seem adequate, any suggestions?

First, congratulations on the good things happening for your son. 🙂

I think prayer is one of the best ways we can thank God – random moments during the day when we just praise Him for His love. I also think by sharing how God has helped you and your son that in itself is a form of thanks, because you are sharing the good news of faith in God with others. 👍

Just thank God in your prayers, tell Him how grateful you are, and tell Him you can never thank Him enough. God knows our hearts. Also spend more time in front of the Lord, earnestly seek after Him.

I thank God million times for the great things He has done in my life. Whenever I thought about some old event, even it happened years ago and I have thanked him many times before, I still offer up more thanks.

You can also extend your gratitude by loving your neighbors, to pay forward the grace you have received. God will be most pleased when we live a generous Gospel life, to have a close relationship with Him and to become His true follower.

Perhaps exercise works of mercy for several days? Like maybe do a “novena” by way of doing something charitable that you normally wouldn’t do for 9 days.

Do you have Eucharistic Adoration at your parish? If not, please find a parish which does.

My suggestion would be to go sit with Our dear Lord for at least 30 minutes… and express your gratitude to Him, face to face. Your son might also wish to join you. You might even want to bring Jesus a vase of flowers, and place them near the Tabernacle/Monstrance.

I can’t think of a better way to say “Thank You” to Jesus… than directly in His Presence.

Thank you, also… for sharing your beautiful experience. It has helped my faith. God bless you. 🙂

Thanks for those tips.

My son had lost his well paying professional job, through his own fault. Just not paying attention to what he was doing. Mostly because he was distracted by NOT following God’s Will. When you’re free lancing you gotta do a lot extra thinking and it gets confusing. LOL.

He was in a 2 year relationship, that as his father and best friend, I KNEW what not a good one, and she was having negative overall effect on him, but I kept that mostly to myself. He was gonna hafta to recognize that on his own. I just called it to his attention. “Do you really think this is someone that can make you happy?”

He is 28, never married, a good Catholic boy who was letting things go to his head. He had been away from home for 10 years. First school and now work. He has been good at everything he does.

In a past conversation I warned him, “I know things seem good now, but don’t be surprised when all this comes crashing down.”

It wasn’t 2 months later he showed up here at a loss for what to do next.

Immediately we prayed about this and I told him, “you strayed from God’s plan for you by not doing correctly, it happens, go to confession, make things right, and put this in His hands and it will be ok.”

Back in the parish he was baptized in, and where his mother and I were married, he used his new found spare time wisely. When not looking for a job, or researching the internet, we were at daily Mass, cutting grass at the Church grounds, and helping the elderly by driving the meals on wheels truck.

He began running and working out with me. Years behind a desk had made him soft and pale. I asked the Holy Spirit to guide me in getting him back where he needed to be.

His first day on the road with me he could not run one mile without stopping, now he runs 6 and I no longer can keep him in sight. In just 3 months he is fit, trim, and tanned.

Something happened in his relationship that brought to light the fact she was not someone he needed to be with, and it cooled dramatically. He says he is not going there with her.

In a unbelievably tight job market, he landed a job in the most prestigous area of Alabama in a big time company. It is a definite vertical move from the job he was phased out of.

He leaves for his new job in 6 days. I’m gonna miss him around here! I got use to having someone to run with, and to walk to daily Mass. His mother and I are going to help him find a apt, and move furniture, thought he doesn’t have much of that. We’ll worry about that later.

No question God made lemonade outta a box of lemons. My son ackknowledged his bad luck, it was not God’s fault, but his own by thinking he knew more than Him, and obviously not doing His will. I told him from the outset, “you know this coulda been a whole lot worse, don’t ever think someone is NOT looking out for you.”

A few month ago where was NO evidence any of this could, or would ever happen. It has been truly humbling. He needed employment, relationship makeover, and a boost in self esteem. He not only received all these things, but in the correct order to maximize the effectiveness.

I told him to thank Him, “just as much as your prayed for it.” I also added take this oppurtunity and go be the best you can be, and do it for Him, all He asks is for you to do right, and follow his plan with enthusiasm and Faith.

A cloistered group of Sister’s share their Adoroation Chapel with the public, about 30 mintues away. We are heading that way in just a little while to give thanks, and to ask for strength for each of us to do his best.

You can also extend your gratitude by loving your neighbors, to pay forward the grace you have received. God will be most pleased when we live a generous Gospel life, to have a close relationship with Him and to become His true follower.
That’s very true. In fact, the scripture teaches that whenever we do good for someone else, we are doing it for Christ. So if any of us does any good for another person, that is for Christ.

Or/also, there’s prayer 🙂 :). Blessed prayer.

Thanks for sharing the great story. It is very encouraging.

God is good. Praise the Lord!!

Wow what a story.

I think on of the best way we can please or pay God back is to simply live our faith.
