Years ago, I used to have an English language copy of the Ukrainian psalter, which was broken down into Kathismata, And it included the penitential psalm prayers at the end of each kathisma. Beautiful. I would love to find another copy of those prayers, in English, in a word processing format, so I can print them out in a booklet. Anyone have them, or know where I could find them?

thank you

I am not aware of any such thing and there could be copy right issues in doing so if you do find it.

I know the Troparia and prayers you are referring to. They occur in the Slavonic Liturgical Psalter, both Orthodox and Catholic editions.

The only version I know in English now available is published by the Orthodox Monastery of the Transfiguration (OCA) in Ellwood City.

THE PRAYERS OF THE HOLY PSALTER

Arranged by Fr. Philaret Littlefield

A para-liturgical office for reciting the psalms following the arrangement of kathismata used in Byzantine divine services, including troparia and a variable prayer for each kathisma. Also includes the listing of psalms recited in each office according to the liturgical cycle and the “Rule of 500,” an order for private prayer. Both orders are translated from the Slavonic.

Paper, 48 pages, +EDU2007, $3.50

Excellent! I didn’t know this had been reprinted. I have an old samizat copy of that floating around ,but don’t know where.

And yes, pavlich, I’ve seen that pink Psalter to which you are referring.

Pavlich, there is an excellent translation from the Slavonic Psalter that includes, besides all of the Kathismata in order, all of the penitential prayers at the end of each Kathisma, the Biblical Odes, and the “Service of the Twelve Psalms”, in addition to other miscellania such as a table of when each Kathismata is taken, etc.

It is available from Wordsmith in Canada wordsmithpress.net
