As many of you know, I have had an ongoing intestinal issue for the past six - almost seven - months. Well, the doctor finally sent me for tests, and it was a disaster.

On Wednesday the 19th of this month, I went in for an endoscopy (for those of you who don’t know what it is, it’s a procedure in which they go down your throat and into your stomach with a scope).

Well, it all would have been fine and dandy had I not woken up during the procedure! It was the worst pain I have ever felt in my life, and I have had many injuries. They were actually doing a biopsy of my stomach at that moment. The thing about me is that I do have a high pain tolerance, so if I am experiencing pain, I will just deal with it. I remember lying there thinking, “If I just lay still, maybe it will be over quickly.” However, they noticed my eyes were open, and so they gave me anesthesia…TOO MUCH anesthesia.

I had to practically be carried out to the car. Also, since I get every side effect in the book to every medication, I reacted badly to the anesthesia. It makes me paranoid, anxious, and depressed. My thoughts were jumbled for nearly a week.

Well, the doctor did not find much during the endoscopy, but since I am still experiencing a lot of pain, he wanted to send me for a CT scan. How delightful.

First I got to drink a delicious, chalky, berry barium sulfate smoothie. Gag me with a spoon. Then they injected me with the iodine concoction so I could glow in the dark, or whatever the heck it’s so supposed to do to me. Well, the girl missed, hit a nerve in my arm, and for some reason, I bled quite a bit from it. 🤷

Well, after the whole test was through, I broke out into a rash from the iodine on my face, stomach, and legs. Now, the barium sulfate is giving me intestinal problems that are worse than I’ve ever had. Needless to say, I’d rather be put in my grave than go through a CT scan again.

At any rate, I think I kind of needed to get that off my chest. It’s been a difficult week. And as I sit here, I am still in quite a bit of stomach pain, so I do ask for your prayers. I’ve been up since 1am.

Thanks for listening. God bless!

I am so sorry this happened to you.
Praying for your health, healing and comfort.

Praying for you! Hope the pain eases quickly! Sounds like you’ve had a rough time. 😦 They must perform endoscopy differently in US, I’m pretty sure they don’t knock you out here. You can be sedated but some choose not to be.

"So do not fear, for I am with you, do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand - Isaiah 41:10

Would some Forum members please join with me as Our Lord says where two or three are gathered in my name - Lets gather in Our Lord’s name and say an Our Father for the healing , bodily and spiritually, for her total recovery. In Jesus name we ask this.

Jesus I place my trust in you.

Oh My Goodness:eek: I am so sorry that you had to go through all of that. I can share the problems with anesthesia with you as in the past they found out it takes a lot to keep me under, and I wake up.

My prayers tonight will be for your intentions.

Yes. I’ve had two endoscopies and here in Canada they just use a valium sedative. It’s much quicker to bounce back from.
