Many of you know my story that I desperately want to be Catholic but my wife is very anti catholic. I have been talking with Fr Jim and he recently told me:
for a spouse to say “if you choose this (something being morally sound) over that, then i will leave you” – is not healthy and speaks of grave manipulation.
He also asked me if I was strong enough to pick up Christ’s cross and follow Him. He asked that I read through the Macabees about people called to God but not morally strong enough to follow.

I have read the books of the Macabees and have prayed and have been saying a hail mary every day (every time I but a rosary it “disappears”) and finally decided that my duty to God, to my wife and kids and to myself was too important and I have joined the RCIA group. I will be joining the Church.

I am so happy.
I am so scared.
Am I doing the right thing, I know that I am and yet I am more afraid than I have ever been. No fear has ever seemed more grave than this one. I do many things that I know are wrong and my internal (infernal) justification is that my church doesn’t seem to recognize the Word of God. Joining God’s Church will mean that I have no more excuses. I am terrified. I am happy.

Over the last month or so I have come to regard many of you as friends and/or family and I now beg for your prayers as I move forward with this step in my life and for prayers for my wife that she can come to see the beauty that I have found in the Church.
All the normal questions that bothered me so long about the Blessed Virgin and Confession have been resolved by reading and often by comments made here on CAF.

Thank you,

Bryan

Whatever you do that makes you happy and closer to GOD is the right thing! If your wife is manipulating you to not join the church, something that makes you happy, please pray that GOD help you through this heavy cross you have to carry!

My ex is Catholic but not practicing, it was really difficult to go to church every Sunday and confession, etc because he wouldn’t agree with it. We fought often and it was not healthy for my children nor myself and that relationship didn’t last very long!!

I am in a relationship where I don’t give any excuses over my religious beliefs, my partner agrees and is devoted as I am…We at least don’t have much problems with religion…But we are learning together…It’s still a rocky road and will require a lot of patience and trials but we are hoping and praying together. That’s what’s important…

Good luck and God bless!

Prayers to you, Bryan…I pray that your wife will wish to convert at some point as well…if not, that she doesn’t try to manipulate your path to The Church. I wish you peace on this journey!

Talk to rpp. He knows where you are. Maybe PM with him, as he can talk to you man-to-man and convert-to-convert.

He converted and his wife divorced him because of it.

Bryan, I’ll keep you and your wife in my prayers and daily Masses.

Bryan, my husband wasn’t just anti-Catholic but vocally anti-religion.
Eventually the day came that he decided to check out what it was that I was so involved in…and he went through the RCIA process and was baptised.

I ask You, Jesus, to greatly bless Bryan for his courageous response to the graces that You offer him.

Warm regards, Trishie

One of the best rosaries resides on the tips of your fingers. :)But here’s praying your 59 beads on a chain stays safe, and you along with it.

Joining my prayers to the others.

Of course, after Easter, you’ll have to change your sig! Just a little humor for a tough time.

God bless you and your family,

Ruthie

I WAS your wife. I was the anti-Catholic. God has a way of changing things sometimes. 😉 I’ll pray for you all.

God Bless you for your courage in the face of loss!

Jesus sacrificed everything for us, the least we can do is follow Him, no matter what the cost to us temporarily.

“If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me” Lk 9:23.

Others have died for Jesus.

Always remember, eternity is a infinitely longer than our short lifetimes.

Your courage inspires me to be stronger for Christ!

Sancta Maria, Ora Pro Nobis Peccatoribus!

Bryan, Welcome to the RCC, you have many friends and supporters here. How joyful and sad at the same time. All I can say is through your faith you will change for the better (not that you aren’t a nice guy now) and your wife will notice. You will learn as you grow in faith and hopefully be able to converse with your wife in a way that makes sense to her. You will be the witness for your family to watch and you may be amazed how powerful that can be.

I will pray that your wife has a change of heart as she really should want you to be happy. She is your wife, she married you for better or worse. She may think this is the “worst” but in time will realize it is the “better”. God has a way of surprising us with changes in things we thought were impossible to change.

Nothing is impossible with God. Have full confidence in Him when you are feeling blue. We are here for you if you need support. Pray that God sends His Holy Spirit to your wifes heart. Pray it everyday.

God Bless you my friend.
Rubyt

P.S. If you have your own car stash the Rosary in it or carry it with you. Perhaps if you talk to her and tell her how much it means to you it will stop dissappearing. Yeah, I hear you sayin fat chance right through this computer. 😃
