Anyone know some good effective and suitable prayers for when encountering a Gay person, for their conversion and emergency spiritual intervention? I seem to be encountering so many Gay people lately and feel somewhat stuck on how best to pray for them specifically in this way.

As as a side note, often come across Gay people who have lots of mental health issues as well as choosing to live a Homosexual way of life, I’m convinced that Homosexuality at its core is an effect of metal health disturbance in both men’s and women.

Huh, I do not see encountering a person to be a spiritual emergency, regardless of their sexuality or other state in life.

Also, I usually do not discuss my/their sexuality with people I simply encounter for a brief time.

My first advice, treat every person as you would treat Mother Teresa or your favorite Saint if they walked up to you.

We as Christians are commanded to be kind to everyone, to love everyone, to bring them light.

Pray for everyone you encounter “Lord, thank you that I can engage with this beautiful person. May your light shine through my words and actions, surround them with love and peace.”

The Church does not agree with your conviction. Maybe read the Catechism section on homosexuality. Read it every day until it resonates with your soul.

Are you a mental health professional who can diagnose people from a simple encounter?

How would you like them to pray for you?
Pray for them that way.

Our blessed Mother asked at Fatima to offer sacrifices and rosaries for the conversion of sinners and peace in this world. Do this and leave the details to God. Of course, mentioning particular names to be under the protection of the Blessed Mother is always a good thing.

Why do they need “conversion”? There are plenty of gay people who are perfectly orthodox Catholics. As long as they don’t act on their attractions (just like straight people have attractions or desires that shouldn’t be acted upon) there’s no issue.

The spiritual fruit of the second sorrowful mystery of the rosary (the scourging at the pillar) – is purity. I often offer this up for anyone struggling with purity - whether they are married, single, gay, straight or other related issues. The rosary is a powerful prayer for anyone.

So in your expert opinion not one single Gay person is a non Catholic? On the entire planet? At this time?
Yes, that is exactly what I was saying. Well done.

If you’re done attempting sarcasm, I can explain. Yes, obviously there are gay non-Catholics. Yes, we hope non-Catholics become Catholic. But we don’t need to pray for gay non-Catholics as some special group, because when you phrase it like that it sounds like they need to “convert” from being gay, which is not a thing.

Not sure why people feel the need to argue and jump all over the OP. It is good to pray for all people, because we are all sinners. I pray for gay people, such as my “married” gay neighbors, to be embraced by the mercy and love of God. I likewise pray for my divorced neighbor across the street. I hope they pray for me. The OP asked a good question; let’s respond charitably.

I always thought “conversion” meant “pray for the conversion of sinners,” i.e., that they stop sinning, not necessarily that they convert to Catholicism.

Blockquote
Yes, obviously there are gay non-Catholics
Therefore you answered your own question. To clarify its the non Christians Homosexusls I am talking about hence the word “Conversion” coming into the matter in the first place.

So what are they converting from? Sin? If so, then it’s odd that you only wanted to talk about gay people since being gay isnt in itself sinful. The point is we don’t have special “gay emergency intervention” prayers. We just pray for gay people like we would anyone else.

Alright, I’m out. Enjoy.

Well conversion in this context commonly means ‘conversion therapy’.

You make a good point, and I can’t disagree with you. But I will point out that instead of merely asking about prayers, the OP went on to state some things which not only come across as uncharitable but also happen to be contrary to both Church Teaching AND the latest psychological science. This makes for a prime target in the world of CAF…

CCC 2357 - “…acts of great depravity and intrinsically disordered…”

Listen up folks, my own daughter claims to be “trans,” a false ideology to the core, and because of that, I’ve sadly had to familiarize myself with a lot of related data.

So, I’ve stated before and will state again here, I do not believe there are heterosexuals, homosexuals, transsexuals, etc. That whole LGBTxyzadft…ad nauseam thing is, at its core, a group of folks who have ‘depraved and disordered’ desires, and completely lack self-control.

God gave us our “junk” to be “fruitful and multiply.”

As I once asked my own child, did God look at whom he’d created, Adam and Eve, and say they were not good? Did He tell them to be fruitful and multiply or to misuse their bodies as if they were their own individual gods for that body’s physical pleasure?

Could we please get real? Of course people who engage in homosexual acts which are depraved and disordered have mental issues, the first of which is a serious lack of self-control, the 2nd is that they believe they need to exist, as if God HAD to create us. He did not. He chose to do so. So they need to show some respect + common sense and obey the natural law.

A simple, “Jesus, please bless and help this person” said quietly to yourself will suffice.

Nope that’s kind of technically your limited take on the broader spectrum of the truth of what a conversion and Therapy actually means.

Try again

Okay. I have SSA and have tried to change that. Doesn’t work.

Your turn.

Actually that’s what those terms mean though the definitions have nuance and are less crude.

That’s not what mental illnesses are, those are personal imperfections.

I don’t think it is clear yet on whether he is talking about conversion therapy or converting to the Church.
