Prayers to saints and angels

Let me first tell you what I understand then you can tell me where I am wrong and offer guidence.

I believe that Prayers to the dead are a sin. Prayers for the dead are not sin. That said I also believe that somebody who is alive and well in heaven can be spoken to and can be prayed with.

Aside from the Blessed virgin and perhaps Saint Joseph how do we know who we can and can not invoke.

We are absolutely certain that Marry is in heavan because we know that Christ honors his Mother and Father.

Aside from that one instance can anyone give me any reasoning to be 100% certain of any others.

When the Pope declares someone a saint, he is using charism of infallability. The very same authority that allows the Church to say that Mary and Joesph are in heaven allows the Church to say the same thing about any other saint.

As for those who have gone before us and are not officially declared saints by the Church, we can have hope in the awesome power and grace of God to provide them the graces needed to see the error of their ways and repent. We don’t know if they do it, but we can have hope that it happens.

There is nothing in Church doctrine or dogma that requires us to pray to the saints, but it is a far cry from being a sin. The saints are perfectly united to the body of Christ. Asking them for intercession is far more beneficial than asking the living to pray to you (though I you still do that).

the saints in heaven are not really dead…they are more alive than we are.

We know for sure that the saints are in heaven because of the miracles that they have interceded for. That is God’s way of showing us that they are in heaven.

we know the Saints are in heaven because for anyone to be canonized as a Saint, there need to be miracles of intercession which is proof that they are alive in Heaven with God.
