Lord, please guide AugustineFan toward something that will give meaning and purpose to his free time. Fill his hours not with drink, but with things that will bring You Glory. Lead him to something greater than where he presently is at, so that he may remain sober and a good father and husband to his family. He has taken the first step in realizing he has a problem, now I ask you to place opportunities for goodness in his path and help him use his free time to become more devoted to You. I ask this through the intercession of Your earthly father, St. Joseph, and Your Most Holy Mother, Mary.

I will be praying for you. I am an alcoholic. Drinking alcoholicly leads to a very weakened mind and soul which is easy for evil to make its way into. Please, for the love of your family, assess yourself and decide which is more important: Your relationship with God and your family, or the booze. Sadly I chose the latter and now my wife and I are separated and she’s not sure she wants to work on our marriage.

I will be praying for you. Look into AA, but DON’T stop attending mass. Find a balance of worship and AA.

I am bored and no idea what to do so I drink, I am worried that it may become an issue, and need your prayers to be constructive with my time alone. You are not alone. There are many of us out there. Some of us have stories like yours and some of us have stories that are much worse. But, you are not alone. I will pray that God will deliver you from this addiction and that he will aid you in turning away from drinking and towards Him. Please feel free to PM me at any time you want to talk. As a recovering alcoholic I have a little experience with such matters.
