Please help me pray for the anger that I feel for my sister. I feel anger towards her because of her addiction and what she is putting my family through. I want to hurt her (not physically) as much as she has hurt all of us. Please help me pray for the annimosity that I feel towards her. I am so angry at her and no matter how much I pray, I still feel the same afterwards.

I am so hurt by what she is putting herself through, her children, and my family. I just wish that it would end. I am angry at her because she was so clean for so long and chose to go back to it again. She is constantly telling my children lies and I dont want to turn my children against her. She wont leave me alone and is telling some people in my family lies about me because she is angry at me. I am so ANGRY!!! I want to do the Christian thing, but cant get there. Please pray for me.

***Wow; tough situation! :console: ***
You have a right to your feelings…give them to God (and her to God) for healing.

You and your loved ones will be in my prayers.

*Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us, and increase Your mercy in us, so that in difficult moments we might not despair, nor become despondent, but with great confidence, submit ourselves to Your Holy Will, which is Love and Mercy itself. Amen
*

Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins. Save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to heaven - especially those most in need of thy mercy.

There are a good many saints to whom patience did not come easy, so please don’t ever feel you are alone struggling with this - if praying for compassion is not possible right now, pray for the intention to pray for compassion. If even that is out of reach, pray for the intention to pray for the intention to pray for compassion, and so on until you find an achievable starting point. Our Lord says his yoke is easy and his burden is light. This challenge was made to fit you perfectly, and he would not give you something you can’t handle. If you fall down 7 times along the way, get up 7 times also and do not be discouraged.

We will be praying for you and your family the whole way.

In the name of the father, the son, and the holy spirit,
Amen.

Praying for you, for God to help you through your pain and anger, and for your children especially.

Even Jesus felt angry at times, justifiable anger…

Your anger is not unjustified…but I will keep you in my prayers, and will ask God to remove your anger, and restore it with peace…and help you to not allow your anger to rob you of the energy you need for the Kingdom of God. As long as you don’t allow your anger to fester, and hold a grudge towards your sister, justifiable anger can sometimes be a good thing. Anger puts laws into place, and makes positive change happen in this world. If everyone just ignored the injustices and suffering in this world, where would we all be? So, being angry can have its place sometimes.

God bless you.

Good for you for sharing your hurt and anger…and basically, your helplessness with us. I understand something of what you feel, frustration and helplessness…One of my beloved brothers was an alcoholic. He overcame that for over a decade. When he lost his boys he went back to drink. All his siblings, eight of us, suffered terribly for him. He tried rehab several times. We prayed, I had Masses said. My brother came back to the Church in this period, just one month before he died in 2002, after 30 years absence from the Church. Prayer isn’t wasted. Sometimes it takes time, too much we feel.

I ask God to put your intentions and your family into all the prayers of my life. Trishie

I agree with this, it doesn’t mean you have to yell and scream, just that you don’t have to put up with her. Pray much about it, like post 3 said, if you aren’t there yet, pray for the grace to get there. I’ll keep her and you and your family in my prayers too.

After praying the rosary yesterday, I felt so much better. It brought a calm upon me. I am still very angry, but I feel a lot better that I know in my heart that the Lord has a plan, and I am willing to leave it to him.

I am still (like I said) very angry. I have to watch her children suffer so much. I have to watch my children watch her wither away. It is not fair and it is selfish on her part. How can someone do that to themselves and then to their loved ones?

Praying for you to overcome your anger, and for your sister to be healed.

Praying for your family. Sometimes all we can do is persevere in prayer!

I will pray for you and your sister and your whole family. I know how you feel. I had all the same feelings as you about 5-7 years ago. My sister was an alcoholic and she commited suicide 5 years ago. The anniversary of her death was yesterday. My whole family and many of her friends tried to help and she shunned us all. It split our family apart and in some ways it has never been fixed.

The only thing I would do over if given the chance was to verbally let my sister know that I loved her. I didn’t like what she did but I loved her and still do.

Dear Lord, please pray for this sister and her family in need. Give them the grace needed to handle this situation and let them know that they are not to blame. Please Lord, they need your help!

God Bless you and your family

St. Augustine, I believe, was the one who prayed “Give me patience RIGHT NOW!” You are in good company.

I will add you to my rosary intentions tonight; I empathize sincerely with your feelings as my sister went through years of this kind of behaviour and we girls not only were angry at her but resentful of our mother for acting as if she’d hung the moon. Or so we thought.

Sis came out of the darkness at last, and confessed to Mama that she did not think she could ever set foot in a church again because “God can never forgive what I have done.” Mama told her that Jesus came into the world to save sinners, not to congratulate winners. Sis is now back at church and has not looked back since.

I will pray that not only will your sister find the way out of the slough of despond, but that you will too. God bless you. Oh wait, He already has. 🙂
