I would like to know more about what to pray when I get to Church before Mass. Usually I say an act of contrition and some brief personal prayers.

After Communion I pray an Anime Christi,

and I have heard of the Leonine prayers for after Mass and really like them.

Any other ideas for prayer at these times?

Thanks!

You could spend some prayer time thanking God for your many blessings. You could also remember your family members and pray for specific intentions for each. You could also ask God to show you how you can use your gifts to bring Christ to others and give glory to God.

Well, I usually pray for specific intentions before Mass. If there is something in particular that I want to pray for that day. After communion I just sit quietly, listen to the hymn in a prayerful way, and I am more just being with God at that point. I think about the mystery of the Eucharist, and thank God for such a beautiful gift of himself.

Sometimes it is beneficial to be quiet in the presance of God. Although it is also beneficial to pray specific prayers at time too.

Pray the sorrowful rosary before Mass,
the Anima Christi after Holy Communion is what I do
too.
The peace rosary after Mass-One Creed, then 7 Our Fathers, 7 Hail Marys and 7 Glory Bees (I usually pray the Creed, then one Our Father, followed by one Hail Mary ,followed by one Glory Be7x)

Another thing that we should all be keeping at the top of our prayers: Pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life, and pray for increased holiness in priests and seminarians, and pray for those discerning a call.

Pray for the Pope, for all bishops around the world, and all priests around the world as well, and especially for your own parish priest(s).

I appreciate all the responses so far. This one really sticks out to me, as something that I would like to do.
After Communion when if your eyes are open, you will see the priest administering Holy Communion, and then at the altar cleaning the vessels, and handling the Precious Body and Blood, would be a good time to pray for his holiness, as well as for all the religious, and an increase in vocations.

That’s a great idea.
Thanks.

Sounds exactly like what we do. 🙂

My wife and I are in charge of the music ministry at our Spanish mass. As a music ministry we pray prior to the beginning of mass.

We have a musical arrangement for the Anima Christi which we sing in Latin after communion.

And after the closing hymn we pray the Saint Michael Archangel in Spanish.

For the exception of the prayer before mass, which we do as a music ministry - the other two prayers are done as a congregation.

Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum.
