Sometimes I have a very long list of people to pray for, and I should have always have a long list of thanks.

So, when I have a long list and a short memory, what is the best way to make sure I cover what I need to?

Can I pray “for all the intentions and people on my blog listing”? Or “all my fellow parishioners”? Or “all my (whatever) list”?

I know that if I say to God, "the person on the street corner, or the man I talked to in the bookstore, or my other mass attendees, or those in line with me for confession’, He gets those, and knows I mean them. I also mean that long, long list that I have listed on my blog, but I cant remember all of them. I try to mention a few of the people I’m praying for, but does it matter if I say, and all those on my list?

Yep.

You are doing a noble thing. God knows your intention no matter what you say or who you forgot. He knows your hearts desire.

I feel very confident praying for "all those I have encountered who are in need of You Lord "

My church had a book of petitions where people write their prayer requests for the church to collectively pray for.

During the prayer in the liturgy they don’t get the book out and start saying specifics. They say for “the requests written in our book of petitions and the prayers we hold in the silence of our hearts we pray to The Lord”

You would be doing the same thing.

Here are a few examples of how we deal with having many names in the Melkite prayer book…

Save, O Lord, and have mercy on His Holiness Francis, the Pope of Rome; on His Beatitude, our Holy Patriarch, Gregorios III; on our God-loving Bishop, Nicholas, and on all orthodox patriarchs, metropolitans, archbishops and bishops, the priests and deacons and all who serve in the Church and whom you have ordained to feed your spiritual flock; and by their prayers have mercy on me, a sinner.

Save, O Lord, and have mercy on our Father N., with all his brethren in Christ, and by their prayers have mercy on me, wretch that I am.

Save, O Lord, and have mercy on my parents, N., my husband/wife, N., my children, N., my brothers and sisters, and all my relatives and my neighbors and friends, and all the members of my parish, and grant them your worldly and spiritual goods.

We mention some names in particular and end it with a blanket statement for others without using their names. 🙂

O matter how many pray request you have, they are all heard by God. I have a list of prays,I ask Mary to take them too her son Jesus,so that Jesus can take them to his father to be Answer. But I also know that Mary and Jesus knows are prays, and will also help to answer them too.

One of the priests at my parish adds the following to the end of the bidding prayers:

***V: *For all those who have requested our prayers, and for those for whom we have promised to pray, let us pray to the Lord.
R: Lord, hear our prayer

-Tim-

When I am offering up my prayers and intentions, I always add " for all those for whom I am bound to pray, or for whom I have promised to pray…" just so none are missed. I intend in this way to also remember ancestors, benefactors, enemies, etc.
