Praying For Gods Helping In Finding A Husband

I was wondering if anyone knew of a prayer to
say to God or one that could be said as a novena
that would be passed to him, in helping one to be
guided by his help in finding their husband.

I don’t know if it’s that I make wrong decisions, or
if it’s the type of men I attract for at times I’m not even
looking. I come across someone who seems nice and
then in a matter of a month they show me a mean side
to them or that they are possessive or they cheat.

I also, am strong in my belief in God and I always seek
that out and they tell me they believe then later I find
out that their actions are different.

I would like to throw this decision up to the Lord and
ask him to help me, guide me down a path to the one
he has chosen for me.

Do you know of a prayer? Or do you believe that he can
chose them for you or is that your job and he can only guide you?
Either way I know that he has never failed me at any of my
other troubles in my life. Through other novena’s I’ve prayed
which were for specific help from saints and they all came true.

I just don’t know where to turn in this area.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I, too, have always felt I needed a spouse. Sometimes I looked for one way too hard and I was a bit picky or not. God eventually blest me with a wonderful woman. Not that things are easy all the time BTW once you marry.

Anyway. I want to reiterate some advice I’ve seen posted before that I wish I had followed many years ago. Don’t look for a spouse. Look for friends. A best friend makes an excellent spouse. You’ll both will know it when it happens. I’ve heard this same story from several wonderful couples at church. There is much you can gain from having this perspective.

This isn’t the only option you have, but one that I would recommend to anyone. And I likely will to my children.

Yes I truly do believe in friendship first.
What’s sad is many people these days do not.
I was introduced to a guy from friends and he was
insistant that he was NOT looking for just a friend.
We talked and went out on dates and then low and
behold he was the one who became possessive of
me and we weren’t even in a relationship yet.
He started saying he was going to punch our friends
even mutual one’s who fixed us up if he saw them talking
to me. He also, would insist on talking to me for all
hours at a time on the phone even if he was sick and would
cancel our dates.

I find it so hard in this world…to meet a decent person.
Hence me truly wanting the help of the Lord for he is the
only man who hasn’t failed me. I feel he can be the only
one that can direct me to a decent man that will respect
me and have morals and not be violent and possessive.

I have faith but I guess, I feel that with a prayer I can
have some more comfort.

I fear at times that I may not be meant to have a partner
that God may see my life as to serve his purpose alone.
This worries me, but then I think in the bible he states
he did not make man to be alone hence him giving Adam
Eve.

My friend has good advice: pick the man you want; don’t let a man pick you. By that, she means know what you want and don’t want in a husband, and look for those qualities in a man. Make a list of the qualities that are important to you, and look for men who have those qualities.

Your prayer can lead you to creating that list.

I’m glad that you can break away from possessive men. You know what you don’t want, and that’s a good show of strength.

I know that here on the forums there are success stories. I personally have not used a dating site but would if I was single. I think it’s a great option since you can “see” what people are all about before making a decision to even talk to them. I would sign up for an account and also keep my eyes open in real life… sorry I can’t help you with the prayer.**
 
In addition to what the PP have said,my sister-in-law gave up a favorite thing in order to find a spouse.

St. Raphael the Archangel is a very popular choice, as well as St. Joseph. There was a prayer someone posted called the Courtship prayer.

Here’s a copy of it.

Remember, O Most Blessed Mother,
that never was it known that
anyone who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help, or sought thy
intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence,
unworthy as I am of thy
protection, in the presence of God
the Father, the Author of Life, of

I always thought the best prayers came from the heart.

If I were in that position again (looking for a wife). Here are some thoughts I would enter into my prayer.

Dear God, I have a hole in my heart. I have love to give and desire to share it. Only you know what my future holds. If it is your will, please help me to find the right person with whom I can share the rest of my life doing your work. Please help me to see past my human urges and desires and find and recognize the one who you know is the the right person for me. Until that time please grant me the serenity and patience to wait and not be led astray.

O Jesus, lover of the young, the dearest Friend I have, in all confidence I open my heart to You to beg Your light and assistance in the important task of planning my future. Give me the light of Your grace, that I may decide wisely concerning the person who is to be my partner through life. Dearest Jesus, send me such a one whom in Your divine wisdom You judge best suited to be united with me in marriage. May her/his character reflect some of the traits of Your own Sacred Heart. May s/he be upright, loyal, pure, sincere and noble, so that with united efforts and with pure and unselfish love we both may strive to perfect ourselves in soul and body, as well as the children it may please You to entrust to our care. Oh how I wish I could pick them. Most men want to be the one in charge so confronting someone to ask them out is not easy.
So this is where I just go with the flow on being fixed up or them chosing me whether asking me out in a supermarket or online. But over all I just keep meeting the wrong one’s and I don’t know if I’m jinxed or if God just feels it’s not my time. I mean my ex I was with for 4 years and he turned out to be someone I didn’t even know. He not only was caught cheating on me but then he also had a different women then who he cheated on me with living in our condo in another state.

So I pray, and pray but fear I’m not seeing the right signs on who
to date…as far as who is the one he feels is right for me.

THIS IS BEAUTIFUL I’M GOING TO WRITE THIS DOWN
AND SAY THIS AT NIGHT…I HAVE ALSO PRAYED TO ANGEL RAPHAEL FOR I HEAR THAT HE BRINGS TOGETHER THE RIGHT MATES…I DON’T WANT TO LOSE HOPE!

THANK YOU YET ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL PRAYER.
I WILL HAVE TO TAKE THIS ONE ALSO AND KEEP
THE FAITH THAT HE WILL HEAR ME. I KNOW IT’S IN
HIS WILL AND NOT MINE, I JUST FEAR MY YEARS ARE
PRESSING ON AND I WORRY ABOUT LOSING MY CHANCE
OF HAVING CHILDREN. YET HE DID PROVE IN THE BIBLE THAT HE COULD GIVE A CHILD TO A WOMAN WHO WAS
EVEN OF OLDER AGE. FOR HE IS ALL POWERFUL.

I PRAY HE SEE’S THIS IN MY LIFE…
IF NOT I HAVE TO GO THROUGH PRAYING IN HOPES
OF ACCEPTANCE.

I JUST DON’T SEE THE LORD FEELING THAT THERE
ARE SOME OF US WHO TRULY SHOULD NOT HAVE A

What’s the PP??

I feel God was giving me a sign.
Because before I knew it I was being surrounded and
forced to look at some patterns in my life.
I realized that these patterns may be the very cause
as to why I’ve been single for so long and more important
the places I was going as to why I was meeting the wrong
men.

I’ve placed all my faith in God now, I know that he has never
failed me in my life before, I feel it’s time I put this IMPORTANT
part of my life in his hands. Which I fear I’ve never done before
I’ve always done things my way in the dating world and I know
now that this must be the very reason why they were not good
enough men for marriage.

I’ve done a lot of dating websites and have had no luck.
It’s been unfortunate that many people begin to speak
in a physical state on just the 2nd email. I’ve also had
the unfortunate situation where they don’t look like their
photos for they are years old. I did see the Ave Maria one
and have been curious of it for they go on trips together. I
thought about going on one of the retreats just to see…

I have to admit I have to read the bible and any books several
times to remember stuff. I have a hard time remembering things
after I’ve read them. So I have been a little worried I may not fit
in at a retreat…

I have noticed a trend where young ladies are either attracted to or more open to dating guys who are very aggressive forward and rude but then several years later complain about those same traits. Mean while, polite, well mannered, but timid guys have a hard time getting a date.
 
I had absolutely no idea that St. Raphael was the patron saint for Catholic singles. I have a lot to learn about Catholicism at this point, I am a recent inquirer into the faith. I think I am going to make note of this.

I also didn’t even realize that he was an archangel. I thought there were only two, but since St. Raphael is in the deuterocanon (Book of Tobias), this explains why I never heard of him.
