Praying for "Trivial" Things: Is this Permissible or Sinful?

Just wondering why we’re no longer spelling “God” with an “o?” I’m being serious, not joking here. Is there a taboo about saying all three letters? Again, I’m not joking, seriously…

No, but it is a common misconception.

I can’t speak for Catholicism, but in Orthodox Judaism, G-d’s name is never spelled out or uttered in its entirety. HaShem is the Hebrew way of saying it; one never says or writes J-hovah in its full form. I’m a Reform Jew but I’ve gotten accustomed to writing G-d’s name this way.

I don’t know, I imagine the answers are as varied as the followers.

Myself I ask for the same all the time, to follow the Lords will at all times, and for the strength to do so.

I also pray for the reparation of sinners, and for all those of the Confraternity of the Rosary and Fatima and the Blue-Army who also Pray worldwide. Welfare of family and friends alive and deceased and last of all for the forgiveness of my sins.

Forgiveness of my own sins is pretty much a habit since through Confession and Church weekly that pretty much covers that. But I know I fall short, no sense in ignoring or overlooking the fact.

Pretty much been the same for some time.

Thanks, Gary, for your always interesting comments! As Jews, we know about “falling short.” That’s why the prayer on the eve of the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) nullifies any oaths or vows we may make for the upcoming year.
