Do you normally pray for your confessor before going to the confession that Jesus would guide you or speak to you using the confessor’s words?

Thanks!

not as such … although I do pray (almost) daily for our priests, bishops and the Pope in all their duties and needs, so I guess that counts 🙂

We should always pray for our clergy and religious.

We tend to forget how much they work for us and how much we dump upon their shoulders.

Great point! I pray for Priests daily, but never gave a thought to pray for him right before I go into the Confessional, most of my praying is done for me:D

Yes, and I pray for him and other priests almost every day. I figure they need it and God wants us to.

Yes, praying for priests daily is very important. I think that when we pray for your confessor, we have two benefits: first one is for the priest and second is for us.

When going to confession, we don’t just go to get our sins absorbed but to receive advices. Receiving advices from confessor whom Jesus is pleased with help us greatly. Therefore, our prayers for them are greatly important.

Another point is that when we pray for our confessor, it helps us to humble ourselves when the confessor gives us advices. Sometimes, we are not pleased to hear his advices and in some cases we speak against him. In praying for him, we are actually also asking Jesus to help us deny ourselves in thinking wrong of our confessor and to know better about his advices for us.

For this, Jesus can help us see what He wants to tell us through this confessor.

May God’s peace, love and mercy be with you all!

Every day, and every time when I am in line at the confessional, I ask Our Blessed Mother to prepare our souls and the souls of the whole humanity until the end of time so that we will make a good confession, to illuminate the our conscience so we will come to the knowledge of God’s Truth and to illuminate our spiritual directors, confessors so they will know the state of our souls.

I also ask Our Blessed Mother to prepare the souls of all so that we will receive Our Good Lord Jesus worthily, with deep unceasing love and gratitude, holy, irreproachable, unblemished in holy communion, spiritual communion and also to prepare our souls with the coming of the Holy Spirit.

With these, I also say an act of contrition in behalf of all humanity for all time.

It is definitely a good thing to pray for all souls for all time. Only when we get to heaven when we will realize the impact of all the prayers that we have said not only for ourselves but for all souls.

God bless!

Blessed be Jesus and Mary!

The priest cops 100 times more attention from demons and the bishop 1000 times. If we don’t pray for them then we have no right complaining if they stray.

You bet I do! Especially when I go on my little pilgrimages to the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington. There is one line for several priests, and when you get in line, you don’t know which priest is where or which one you’ll end up with. I pray then that I’ll be with the priest God has chosen for me, and that he’ll give me the advice that Jesus wants him to give. Sometimes I don’t hear what I expect, but I just chalk it up to God’s will for me right now. If, after all that prayer, the priest says, “Don’t worry about it,” I won’t.
