I already called Jey on this in Post #18 - and he/she has yet to respond.

I know that I myself started having more and more serious doubts in my walk away from the CC…
It’s not right to claim that she is lying without any good proof. In case there had been any chance for you it is gone now…

A common tactic in the Philippines is for former Catholics now aligned with cults to represent themselves as Catholics. They contact poorly catechized Catholics and try to convince them that they are Catholics struggling with “problems with Catholic doctrine”. In this way they hope to plant doubts in the minds of Catholics and eventually lead them away from the truth into anti-Catholic sects.
This is similar to what people like “why me” do on these fora.

I don’t want to further my explanation here . I read something of condemnation and accusations instead of clarifying things about catholic beliefs , which implied I’m a liar.
AGAIN, I would like to reiterate. I am catholic and used to go to church every Sunday .That I listened to every words and homily of the priest on a Sunday mass. That I joined communal prayers in our neighbor on death of a person. I used to do it daily and even did the ritual prayers of St. Bridgette , The Secret of Happiness. I’m not an American and can’t express well myself to explain what I have to say. That I read the Bible and have read about all the things you mentioned here, but I just can’t explain myself very well for you to understand me.I have read all of them , but cannot recall what verse, what portion …etc., but I know it because I have read it.
What I observed based on information I got from you, there is not really a problem with both the catholic or that belief of the Christian(Victory Christian church) …I think this is how they are called or maybe a Born Again Christian. They may not go through Mary or any apostles for their intentions or in any of their prayers, but just the same they praise, pray to our Almighty Father through the powerful Christ.I think they don’t put aside Mary, because they would mentioned Mama Mary. They may not pray the Holy Rosary, but when they pray and sing on glorifying God…I don’t know. I’ve seen the difference myself. However, they pray for a lot of people who needs help.I’ve seen a lot of miracles , a lot of spiritual healing and a lot of people lost and brought back to God. The most important thing is that you are intent in your desires to follow Him and be with Him . It’s through this show that I realized why there are poor people. Maybe it’s the process they do or maybe Catholic church in the States has some way different in the Philippines…I don’t know, …I can’t explain well, but let’s not argue, If we all believe in Almighty Father and the the Salvation through Jesus Christ…that’s the most important thing. It all starts in loving Him and everything else follows.

Another one thing that I would like to request EVERYBODY in this forum, is to pray for my country. Right now, our country is suffering too much from the aftermath of the typhoon. I need an intent prayer for my people not to lose hope and to pray for my people to bring back to our God. If love emanates from your heart, this is also the wish of our Lord .

People wander away from the Catholic faith when they can’t find their new found “ecstasy” on the Traditional Mass. They drift away when the Mass gets boring and apathetic. They tend to focus on their exhilaration and new found social group.
I don’t want to bad mouth these well-intentioned born again Christians but if you find them more zealous and enthusiastic in their relationship with God than the traditional Catholics, I suggest joining the Catholic Charismatic group of Bo Sanchez.
They have brilliant lay preachers and charismatic priests who conduct amazing worship meetings every Sunday. Yes they have those random prayers as well. Bo even has his “touch point” moments in their Kerygma magazine that can equal those Victory Christians.

Jesus established only ONE Church - the Catholic Church and gave that Church ALL authority on earth (Matt. 16:15-19, 18:15-18, John 16:13-15, 20:21-23). He prayed fervently for the UNITY of His Body - the Church (John 17).
Never ONCE did Jesus tell us that were were to splinter off from that Church and separate ourselves from the Body of Christ if we didn’t like it. You want to leave His Church - then leave.
Just remember that you are leaving HIM when you do this. You are rejecting HIM when you splinter off into a lesser manifestation of a “church”. You are telling Jesus that you found a "better way" to serve him than the way HE set up.
Jesus didn’t establish Victory church - MEN did.
The FULLNESS of truth can only be found in the one Church established by Christ - Catholic Church (1 Tim. 3:15).

My heart goes out to you, Jey, for your country. It is a horrible thing. What is more, your people already struggle. I am sorry if I doubted you. It sounds as though you made up your mind that whatever church is as good as the Catholic Church. It is unfortunate that your lovely country is now divided in its religious unity. With muslims trying to get a foothold, this is only a bad thing.
I have heard about the Protestants going into Catholic Phillipines and luring people away. I admire your people for their zeal in the Faith. It is most inspiring. It is just that the Protestant churches are luring you away from the Eucharist. This is most unfortunate. After all, it is Jesus, not these “My Way or the Highway” churches, that is the aim of our worship and our Rock and Refuge. He is the healer. I think you are being tempted by the enemy.
My advice would be to ask Him what He wants you to do, and be prepared for the answer, even if it may not be what you think you want.
What you want is the greatest good for you, and your family. I will pray for you about this.

I wasn’t trying to make anybody feel bad about me leaving the RCC.
I do however find it rather disheartening to see that some go ahead and judge Jey and treat her as a liar. I did at one point have to face the same situation and I did have the same questions which were not answered either and I was baffled at the fact that she is voicing these issues and is being called a liar and a deceiver for doing so. I had figured that you and others would have done better in telling her what the church teaches and calming her doubts instead of insulting her. If I was still Catholic I surely would have wanted to make sure that she does not leave the church.
In addition I see more and more judgments coming up in the course of this conversation and even though these are not explicitly directed at me they are implicitly because I do not hide the fact that I once was a member of the RCC and participated in everything I could with fervor…

I know what you mean. I am a revert to the Church myself. I left the Church without giving it a second thought. I futzed around with different philosophies and denominations for a while.
Perhaps it is the language barrier. Jey seems to have made up her mind, and is basically stating why. It sounded as though she were baiting, which happens a lot. She sounded as though she didn’t know the Faith, and began to argue in a way that was different from someone who is Catholic and is inquiring about a point of doctrine. Now I realize it had much to do with language barrier, among other problems. Yes, some people are very rude and insensitive. I hope I wasn’t that nasty.
I think the problem is that it is hard to convey tone of voice in words. It sounds more cold over the internet. I have a great deal of difficulty with this. I wish I could have clever, witty, light-hearted banter as some do. I think it’s a skill set that must be learned.

Well I know that all too well… people keep telling me I am angry, which I am not, but it seems to sound that way…
I did not learn English until I was 12 years old, which might be another reason for that (I learned German first).
I ended up in a small Baptist church in the heart of Texas.
What I just don’t understand is that there is a possibility of her really trying to find answers. For the longest time I did something like that. I did take the opposing position on purpose because I wanted someone to prove me wrong back then… I am pretty sure that today I am a lost cause for Catholicism, but there was a time when I did ask questions not unlike Jey’s…

The Rosary is a wonderful, beautiful, miraculous prayer. It puts us in tune with Jesus’ life, the Gospel, the sorrows and joys of Jesus’ mother - our Heavenly Mother. I’ve been praying the Rosary just about daily for over a year now and I can tell you it has helped me grow in my relationship with God. My 4 year old son wishes to hear it before he goes to bed every night. It has helped me in stressful, hurtful times. Never underestimate prayer. Prayer is our conversation with God. Some prayers, like the Hail Mary or the Rosary are there to remind us of the most crucial times in Jesus’ life.

When I was a young adult, I dabbled in this quasi-Christian/New Age/Hindu/ Buddhist philosophy that taught that the dimensions of the universe were related to the nutational vibrations of atoms that made up the universe, and that by perfecting ourselves we change our nutational rates, and eventually reach paradise by reaching the right “frequency”. We reincarnate as often as it takes to get there.
Nothing any of you can come up with can be weirder than that.
