Praying is making things worse?

There is an old saying that goes, “It is always darkest before the dawn.” Sometimes our answers are just after our bleakest moments. We really have no way of knowing what things God has working in our lives for our betterment. I am not sure what challenges or problems you are facing but I pray that God will give you the strength to see it through and your answer will be sooner than later. Hang in there and don’t feel your prayers are wasted. There is no such thing as a wasted prayer.This month it feels the more I have prayed the worse things get. I am on the very precipice of losing my family. Rosaries, chaplets, novenas.
I don’t know where to turn now.

Instead of seeing this as making things worse try to see that bad things happen and prayer is there to help you cope with it all.

I read your previous posts over the past month and I said a Divine Mercy Novena prayer intention for you, your wife and your children. I also pray to God that things will work out in the long run. God sometimes puts us through a lot of anguish to help us grow in a new way in the future. I call it pruning. The pruning is painful, but the new growth that follows will be better. It may take some time, so hang in there. Keep saying the Divine Mercy Chaplet, it will give you strength and hope. The Jubilee intention for you as a CAF member as a participant in the continuous Divine Mercy Novena thread will give you many more months of Divine Mercy Novena intentions on your behalf.

Just use faith and do not think negatively.

During those hard times, I also wondered if my prayers were doing any good or even somehow making things worse. I see now that these thoughts were just the manifestation of my troubled mind, and even though the difficult situations in my life did not always turn out the way I might have wanted, the problem was never due to or worsened by prayer.
Faith is tested by tribulation. ** “You know that the testing of your faith produces endurance.” ** James 1:3. I pray that you will get through this trying time with your family, and that your faith might be strengthened no matter the outcome. When it became plain to me that things were not working out the way I had hoped, my prayer changed from, "Lord, make it so that this might happen, " to, “Lord, help me make the best of this new situation.”

Yeah I agree with this answer! Do you not feel at peace during prayer? It is probably when you only let your mind wander from God that you get scared or worried. We all do it, so nothing to be ashamed of. But God is our comforter and will always be there for us.

You are probably thinking of God’s telling Jeremiah NOT
to pray for the people of Jerusalem b/c of their apostacy,
1 Jn 5:16 tells us NOT to pray for other’s MORTAL sins.
