How bored does a person have to be to THINK of this question, and then come to CAF and actually create a poll to find out what other people think about it?

I used to have a little hope left for CAF. You have confirmed for me that that hope was foolish. I thank you.
Yep, that pretty much sums up what I was thinking.

I pray whenever I feel the need to. God already knows what I look like.

God made us, and He knows our innermost thoughts - let alone out innermost body! Praying naked I wouldn’t advise, but it’s not like the Lord will reject your prayer because you’re in the nude. I wouldn’t say it’s a definitive charism or a method of devotion - no, far from. But still, if you say a prayer naked I don’t know what’s wrong with it, so long as no erotic connotation exists.

And this is where St Thomas Aquinas comes in to play.

I pray every morning prostrate in the bath tub.
I’m thinking that I should add some context:

First, I begin as the tub is filling for my bath; stop praying to turn the water off; and then finish with the tub full.

Second, I am only partially prostrate on elbows with hands folded - or I would drown.

Third, I had a friend who told me that while she was in high school, she went to the chapel and prostrated in front of the. alter to pray for God’s help to get a good grade on her chemistry final. (We both had high school chemistry experiences that were traumatic at the time.). So I had always thought that I would like to try that prayer posture; and after I had knee replacement surgery in one knee - many years later - I thought about it again. However, I didn’t want my husband to find me stretched out on the floor so I decided to do it during my morning bath which I have found very rewarding - there are no distractions, the water is soothing, and I feel closer to God. Btw, I walk in the evenings while I pray the rosary - also very enjoyable.

this made a good laugh :clapping:
I mean, I was joking, but unless you live in a very, very cold climate, that is kinda weird. Like if you find yourself consistently bundling up in July, you should probably go to the doctor for a check up.

Until you clarified, I thought you were making a joke because laying prostrate in a tub full of water would naturally lead to drowning. :o So it’s good that you clarified.

Or turn up the temp on the AC. :winter: I don’t like the heat, but I have been known to pull on sweaters in some homes or other buildings where the temperature can’t be higher than 65 (F). When you’re coming in from 80 or 90 plus, you might as well be stepping inside a freezer.

Our AC is set at 78 in the summertime.

78 is fine for me during the day, but I need it to be in the 60s at night when it’s bedtime. Nothing worse than trying to sleep when it’s too hot. When I was deployed, I used to have to sleep during the day sometimes. You know what it’s like to try to sleep in a tent in Afghanistan in July at noon? 😃

Oof! I bet sleeping naked wasn’t an option there, either. 😃

I do run a fan at night for white noise anyway.

Yes, it is required that you pray naked, in a cave, in the winter, after fasting, with ashes in your hair, on a sackcloth rug. 🙂

I have a harder time sleeping when cold (i.e. on conveyances that are A-C’d down to meatlocker level).

There is no dress code for praying. You can pray sitting on the toilet or in the shower or without clothes in the privacy of your home.
Probably not, but when praying in such a situation once I had the strong sensation the Lord would appreciate me in a pair of boxers, at the very least. It may have been my Guardian Angel letting me know one too many donuts made the gift of my body a sticky point. 😃

Eh, you could get away with it. Most people would hang towels/flat sheets around their cot to create sort of a sleeping cubicle thing, where you at least had some semblance of privacy. But there is just something about an Army tent in Afghanistan that makes you want something between it and your bare skin.

OP, in my experience the most vulnerable you can be with God has nothing to do with your state of dress but with one’s humility, trust, and obedience. I have put my trust in God with a very serious matter and praying “thy will be done” and meaning it was the most vulnerable I’ve ever felt.

I would not try this where I live, I have too many windows and my neighbors are too close. It would be beyond distracting. Being humble before God is more difficult anyway.

He should just turn the air conditioner down a notch! 😉

The only times I’ve really prayed naked is if I was having intense stomach cramps and was crying out to God, for relief from the pain. :crying:

Also if I was in the shower & thought about someone in trouble and asked the Lord to help them. No long prayers, though!
I want to re-post my explanation.
