P.S.: Now my most oft-spoken prayers during the day are “Come, Holy Spirit” and “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, have mercy on me, a sinner”. I need these prayers and so I understand why I was so lost without them.
This!

Doesn’t matter - they are all one. I sometimes address Jesus, sometimes God.
I don’t know if that’s the Nicene Council or not. It’s more 1 in 3 I think. Because there are 3 that bear witness in heaven.

Myself every night before bed. A blessing, Pater Noster and 3 hail marys and an ending blessing. My “quick prayer”.

I’m curious, if you only want to pray to God, does that mean the exclusion of praying the “Our Father” and such petitions as “We ask this through Christ our Lord”? You can’t just sit through the Mass without making the responses as they are prescribed.

It’s wrong to pray superstitiously or to pray for something evil (such as for something bad to happen to someone you dislike). But other than that, I can’t think of a “right” or “wrong” way.
It looks like three threads were merged. My post here doesn’t make any sense as a response to the OP of this new (merged) thread but it did make sense as a response to the question in the original thread (the one in the title field).

A lot of the responses here seem to be the same. So, if you are reading this thread, check the title field. 😃

no.i always say through christ our lord.I just wanted to know if you can say Dear God when you open your prayer just like the collect prayer at mass where they almost always say “O God”

Since the Collects at Mass do this, what in the world led you to believe that it may not be OK? Of course it’s OK.

can I just pray to “God” instead of addressing a member of the trinity.sorry for this silly question but i just want to pray to "God"and i want to make sure its ok. thanks
I personally pray to the Father, thats what jesus instructed us to do but
“God” is the same thing

LDS do consider themselves to be Christian - but only because they don’t understand what Christianity is or what it means to be a Christian.

But LDS are forbidden to pray to the Mormon Jesus or to the Mormon Holy Ghost, because they are not our god, they are merely our spirit brothers, born - just like us - from a union between the Heavenly Father and his countless eternal wives. Jesus is our eldest spirit brother, and thus was chosen by the Father to act in the role of our savior.
Oh, okay, thanks.

In that case, your first sentence is justified not only theologically but also sociologically: they do not self-identify with the idea of “Christian” with which other self-identifying Christians self-identify, and thus are not part of the same group.

Philip asked Jesus to show him the Father, you know the reply, God died on the Cross, Jesus said " have I been with you all this time and you still do not know me " ? Jesus was the Word become flesh, the word was always there, the Word was God, the word only had to be manifested in the Man Jesus Christ because of sin…

Thank you all who have answered me.I don’t feel so strange now only praying to God
