Praying the Divine Office

Hello All,

I am interested in beginning to pray the Divine Office. What is the best resource for doing so? Website, book, or any other help you can give is greatly appreciated.

Try divineoffice.org It’s a nicely done site with the prayers for each day, both printed and audio versions.

There’s also a nice app for iphones and androids called ibreviary. Since I started using the app I hardly open the printed book at all.
 
I’m not sure which form of the Divine Office you’re looking for, but the 1962 Divine Office can be found online at divinumofficium.com/ and in book format Here (Latin ONLY) or Here (Latin/English; Not yet available), and the newer Liturgy of the Hours can be found online at divineoffice.org/ (Unlike “Universalis”, this is the official translation) and in book format Here.
As for what the best method is, well, that’s up to you; personally I prefer books because they’re portable and easier on the eyes, but online is certainly cheaper.
 
Sometimes for the Divine Office I say the prayer in the back index of a special OSB.

Note: The Divine Office, currrent edition, generally comes in two forms. The complete form is known as the Liturgy Of The Hours. The version with mostly Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer is known as Christian Prayer.

When you do the current Divine Office, you are doing it with the Pope, all the clergy, all the religious, and all those lay persons who choose to pray the Divine Office:gopray:
 
Just a note that the Christian Prayer edition contains the Office of Readings, Morning Prayer with commons and feast days, three daytime hours, evening prayer with commons and feast days, and night prayer.

The full four volume edition has all of the commons and special prayers on the calendar.

If you are only praying morning and evening prayer with maybe one daytime hour and the nighttime hour before bed I believe that Christian Prayer is a great option. I have the four volume and the Christian Prayer edition. I find that for my purposes Christian Prayer is really enough.

I like the black bonded leather zipper edition because it holds my holy cards, and the guide for Christian Prayer, as well as the quick reference sheets with no chance of them falling out.
