I’ve had quite a few challenges that have not been easy lately … I would pray then eventually stop and I realize I need to pray daily and have been saying the rosary . Today I feel alone, I wonder if Jesus and Mary are listening and had such a hard time concentrating today. ANy suggestions? advice?

Well shoot. Your username is sort of the best advice here. I mean sometimes when you don’t get feedback it means that everything’s fine. No fires to put out. No big deals to bully. But I don’t know. I mean all I pray is the rosary. And sometimes I get a vibe from it and sometimes it’s flat. But the thing is I’ve stopped looking to get a vibe. I’ve stopped looking for feedback. I just let the marbles roll where they will. I sort of let things go where they should. I don’t know if that’s faith. Or if that’s just laziness. But it works. It keeps the edge off things. And I mean that helps. Because being calm and trusting when you pray is a thing too. It’s sort of like getting advice from your mother. You don’t call her up all panting and outrageous. You just ask normally and listen for the advice. That and you listen for her to complain that you don’t call enough. I’m guessing. I don’t know.

Peace. And welcome. You’re 1 post old!

The Lord’s ear is always close to us, He definitely hears our prayers. Feelings aren’t necessary, they come and go. It is commitment that counts.

If you haven’t tried it, good spiritual reading and lives of the saints are great sources of inspiration.

Peace,

Dorothy

Sometimes we should stop expecting to get a response. Prayer should not always be for us to get something out of, or to feel that we are being listened to. Prayer can also be about us honouring God without expecting him to give something back to us.

I feel like I get attacked by demons after I say the Rosary but I keep doing it anyway.

Good, keep saying it. They don’t like Mary’s power over them that the Lord allows her to have!

Keep on praying…It will be helpful if you have a friend who can pray with you. If not, keep on keeping on. Pray the Rosary. Also call on the mighty name of Jesus and the blood of Christ. There is power in His name and His blood.

God bless!

Thank you all for the response, I guess its me being a little selfish wanting a response … I did feel so tired this morning ( I am getting up a half hour earlier before I have to get ready for work now to pray the rosary) every part of me was saying " go back to sleep" " you can say it later" but I didn’t. I like the idea of reading about saints for inspiration and all of the support !

I did think that today when I just wanted to go back to sleep , is it the devil putting these thoughts in my head ? that’s when I got up , turned on the light ( will admit thinking that got me a little scared) and started my rosary

I’ll give you an anecdote from my own life. Sometimes I just feel overwhelmed by the faith (I’m a new Catholic, just baptized/confirmed at Easter 2015). I try to pray the Rosary every night, but there have been times where I just wasn’t feeling it. I didn’t want to do it, I didn’t think it made any difference, I didn’t think anyone was listening. And so I just started talking to Our Lady and told her that I hoped she wouldn’t be mad but that I wasn’t going to pray the Rosary that night. I found myself just pouring my heart out to her- all my frustrations, all my fears, all my hopelessness, and found myself crying. And when I was done, I prayed the Rosary and felt better.

Don’t be afraid to just tell Mary how lost you feel. She will take that to our Lord and will intercede for you.

Thank you for the advice

My religious habits have changed over the years as long as you stick close to God you’ll be alright

And you mentioned feeling sleepy as well.

Try walking and praying the rosary. Walk indoors or outdoors. Choose a walking path that is quiet, safe and easy to navigate.

You are likely to fall asleep, if you put a halt to your busy day and plop down in a chair to pray the rosary.
