Praying the Rosary but

Hi everyone!

My family prays the Rosary everyday. However, one of my family members keeps sleeping during Rosary. And I don’t think we are praying the Rosary from our hearts.

I feel like our faith is fading… I am the only one struggling to keep the faith but I am facing resistance from my parents.

Any advice on this?

Maybe the person sleeping during the Rosary is tired. The repetition of the Rosary has been known to put people to sleep. Some people who have anxiety use it as a sleep aid for that reason.

How would you know if other people are praying the Rosary from their hearts?
The mere fact that it is being said every day is pretty awesome as most families don’t do that.
 
How about always sleeping during the homilies at Mass apart from sleeping during Rosary?

I commend your family for praying the Rosary together. Keep it up. Does not matter whether someone is sleeping. Praying together as a family is a great achievement in itself. Over here we say ‘a family that prays together stays together’.

Leave that person alone.
You don’t know what is in their heart, not if they desperately need sleep. We have guardian angels. If it was a huge problem, then his would awaken him.
It’s fine.
 
This person may have narcolepsy
Have them see a physician.
 
I don’t think this member has narcolepsy though haha because this person used to pray the rosary well last time. Perhaps it could be some changes in the life of that person.
I nudge this person from time to time during Rosary and Mass.

There is a pious old saying that when one falls asleep praying the Rosary your Guardian Angel finishes praying it for you.

For some people, the Rosary brings a great sense of peace and calm. Sometimes they become so peaceful the fall asleep. That is not somehow a sign of fading faith. It is just a sign that they were tired and needed rest.

A sweet nun I knew would take the overnight shifts at Adoration when no one showed up. It was not unusual to arrive to find her asleep in her chair. She would wake and smile and say “I was taking a little nap with Jesus!”. I miss her.
 
Maybe it’s the time of day. Earlier or later in the day depending on when you’re saying the Rosary, might help this individual stay awake. I don’t know if this person is exceptionally tired due to: work, medication, getting older, having insomnia at normal sleep times. There could be various reasons. But I don’t think unless you are a parent or someone else who has authority you can do much to change this. Just pray for them, that’s they best thing you can do.
 
Here is my advice: worry about yourself, and not how holy you think your parents are or aren’t. It is not your place to be questioning their faith. Nothing is stopping you from continuing your Rosary without the sleeping member.
If they fall asleep during the homily, leave them alone. If your priest wanted to, he would say something to them. Again, it is not your place. Respect your parents, honor your parents.
