Not sure where to ask this…Sorry if in the wrong place.

Monday is the Joyful Mysteries, i have prayed the rosary for Monday, now i have a reason i feel to pray the rosary again, can i use any of the other Mysteries or do i still use the Joyful?

You can do whatever it is you like. There are no “rules” per say, just guide lines and recommendations. 🙂

When in the mood, I can pray all the mysteries in a day. Then of course, there are some days, I have a problem just getting time to do one full set!

I don’t believe the Blessed Mother, or her Son, is going to care if you change things up a bit. 🙂

There are no rules, we only have nice guidelines for when to pray which mysteries.

Back in the day, a “daily rosary” often meant all 15 mysteries, so it was the same everyday anyway.

Unless you have a strong preference otherwise, why not pray the Sorrowful Mysteries and see if after that you feel motivates to pray the Glorious and complete the whole rosary? It can be good to stretch yourself from time to time.

Anyway you like it - even the Monday is the Joyful mysteries its not a law or anything so if you felt like doing the luminous mysteries every day that is up to you -

the thing is really that your actually praying the rosary and not which mysteries

Thanks to each of you who have taken the time to reply, I am still in training and this is such a good site to learn about Catholic Faith and tradition.😉

My friend, pray as OFTEN as you are able the Rosary. Many have merited salvation doing so.

Your question deals with “Church Practices” which are changeable [by proper authority], and NOT Sacred Tradition; Doctrine or Dogma which are uncahangable.🙂

So do what ever seems RIGHT to you! Either option is a foutain of God’s grace through Mary

This does not {IMO] require anyones permission.

God’s continued blessings,

The tradition of certain mysteries being prayed on certain days is simply tradition. We can pray it as we please. It does make it easier for a group to pray the rosary since there doesn’t need to be discussion about which set to pray. However, the rosary is a private devotion and as such, can be prayed however you’d like.

For example, I often pray the mysteries in chronological order (including the Luminous mysteries), so that puts me off cycle with the traditional order. If I’m praying by myself it doesn’t matter at all. If I’m praying with a group, I just go with the group and don’t worry about ‘catching up’ .

I have a friend who sometimes prays the same set of mysteries for several days in a row. Particularly if she is praying about a specific intention and those mysteries “fit” the intention.

You may use any mysteries you want to use, it is not written in stone which ones to pray on which days.
That is just a suggestion to give order to one’s praying so that they go through all the mysteries in a given week.

When it comes to the Liturgy of the Hours that is the official prayer of the Church and there are specific prayers for every day.

You may use any set of Mysteries on any given day, it is not set in stone which Mysteries you pray on what day of the week. I’m sure Our Lady and Our Lord would not mind if you wish to use a different set; in fact, I have a personal experience - awhile ago, I had not prayed the Rosary for quite a bit and so I thought it would be best to do so. As it was a Wednesday, I prayed the Glorious Mysteries; the same thing happened again another five or so times! Now, if I find myself wanting to pray the Rosary on a Wednesday, I use a different set of Mysteries. 😛

Also, I’m glad to see you have such enthusiasm in praying Our Blessed Mother’s Rosary! I need to start praying it daily like I did a few months ago.

You don’t even have to do them by set. If you really wanted, you could mix the mysteries up. There are no real rules in praying the rosary. It’s a very flexible and customizable way to pray.

The full rosary is 15 decades. One decade is 1 our father and 10 hail marys and 1 glory be.

The small rosary is broken down into 5 decades and this is the one most people call the rosary.

Here is the usual way the small rosary is prayed:

Mon - joyful mysteries
Tue - sorrow mysteries
Wed - glorious mysteries

Thr - joyful mysteries
Fri - sorrow mysteries
Sat - glorious mysteries

Sun - glorious mysteries

In this way, the full rosary is prayed twice in one week.

I stumbled on a response by Fr Serpa on the Apologist forum that may help (bold is my emphasis):

"…] The rosary is not meant to be the ordeal you are making of it. When you pray the rosary privately, you can meditate on only one mystery for the five decades if you want to. If you want to meditate before you begin the prayers, that’s okey too. What is important is that you PRAY! It’s all about God!

Fr. Vincent Serpa, O.P."

I love this response because it gets to the heart of the rosary: Our Lady asking us to take time out of our day to pray to God.

Sometime, when I have time to do a second decade, I will just thank God for everything he has given me and then prayed a decade meditating on my thanks and love of Him.

God Bless!
