Let me first clarify that English is not my first language, so I’m sorry for any misspellings.

lately I’m trying to pray the rosary everyday, however, sometimes it is hard to keep concentrate with what I’m saying, sometimes I think of so different things and I end up stop praying because I feeling disappointed. Also, sometimes deep inside when I come to pray the rosary, I don’t feel like want do it that moment. and that also keeps me away from praying the rosary because I know I should come with the desire to pray not to just pray because I have to.

So there it is, 2 problems I face when it comes to praying the rosary.

What can I do?

Prayer is a conversation between you and God. Sometimes you need to talk to someone even when you don’t really want to. Sometimes the conversation goes in a direction not originally intended. The important thing is that you are talking to God.

If you struggle with the rosary, then use the words you have. If you have no words then sit in silence and listen… If there is something distracting you, then talk to Him about the distraction. God knows everything, anyway. He knows what you intended to talk to Him about and He knows what is on your mind at the moment.

Being with God is the real intent.

I find when this happens (distractions) I use the Rosary Prayer guide to help me. Here is the link: (I hope it helps you)

marian.org/mary/rosary/joyful.php

Also if you open this link it will take you to a post I made in another thread about how to pray the Rosary with details:

forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?p=10293678#post10293678

Also, I listened to a Catholic Lighthouse Media cd titled, Praying the Rosary Like Nevery Before. Which I recommend:

Good luck and let me know if you need anymore help.

Try praying one or two decades at a time and then go back later and pray a couple more or all until you become used to it. The eyes wander and so do our minds. God knows your intent.
sometimes I fall asleep while praying the rosary and I don’t know what comes of my mouth, but I know God hears me. I love the rosary and have only missed about 3 days out oft he last couple of years. It might help if you walk or have some soothing chants on in the background. This I do know; the rosary is powerful and change your life. Do persist. Pax

As a matter of fact, I think many (all?) of us have these temptations to cease praying, be it the Rosary, adoration, or anything else. And the point is not to pray when we have the desire to do so, or to experience joy in doing so. The point is to do it out of love. Love can move us to great joy, but also to act even when it will mean sorrow. Sometimes prayer is truly sweet, other times is void of all sensations, sometimes it is even painful. And an act of the will motivated by love is greately appreciated by the Lord, much more, in fact, than a prayer done when praying felt very good.

This is the same idea behind loving those who offend us. “If you love those who love you, what merit is there in that?” 🙂 So persevere in prayer. The idea is that prayer is not something such as eating or going to work…no!

Prayer is when we speak to the living God that dwells in our heart.

Prayer is when you see the sky and are thankful, when you embrace a loved one, when you keep on doing your best at home, at work, in school…when you sit down for a minute and relax, when you are about to fall asleep, when you suffer and don’t quit…

Prayer is what you say deep in your heart in the privacy of your room, and what you say out loud in the public liturgy of the Church. It is also the wordless act of adoration in which we close our eyes and simply let our hearts love Him who is Love itself.

So when you pray that great mystery that is the Holy Rosary, meditating on the life of Christ through Our Lady, it must be as simple and natural as when you meet someone along the way and greet them and talk to them.

One thing that helps is to realize that praying the Rosary may not be a very gratifying experience at the time. It is often more like labor and spiritual warfare than a refreshing vacation. Of course sometimes the experience can be very gratifying but that is rare (at least in my experience). I like to think of those servants who had to make several trips with their buckets to fill those huge stone jars full of water. A very repetitive act, and definitely not fun, but it brought about a significant miracle when the water changed to wine.

For a more practical tip, try praying the Rosary out loud so you can hear your own voice. If I pray anything in my head it is quickly drowned out by the other thoughts that are much louder. Mental prayer doesn’t stand a chance in my noisy brain, but vocal prayer beats the noisy thoughts.

Thanks to each one of you and whom sent me the private message.
Please pray for me that God help and guide me.
May God bless you all.
