Praying the Rosary

I have just received my 1st rosary. It came with a little book that has how to use it and the prayers and what prayer goes with what bead etc. Is it wrong for me to use the book while I’m praying since I don’t have all of the prayers memorized??

I find all sorts of reasons to still pick up a book to help me pray my rosary. I use a book to pray a scriptural Rosary, and sometimes I’ll use a little pamphlet on how to pray the rosary just so I can look at some of the artwork it shows for the different mysteries. I’ve been learning to say my rosary prayers in Latin too, so I use a book to help me with that while I pray sometimes as well. Even long after you have all the prayers memorised, you’ll find yourself picking up a book that will help you expand and deepen the devotion. You can add prayers to the rosary for special intentions. I’ve started recently praying my Tuesday and Friday rosary for the intentions of the holy souls in purgatory, and I’ll add a prayer after each decade for that special intention. I still need to have the prayer in front of me though because I don’t have it memorised. So even when you have all the prayers memorised, don’t think that you can’t enhance it in some way by picking up a book!
