Praying the Rosary

Just wondering. In Pope John Paul’s encyclical Rosarium Virginis Mariae he says that it is useful to read portions from Holy Scripture before meditating on the mysteries. I have tried this and it does seem to bring the mysteries to life in a more real way. But, the only problem is, it takes up more time. I’m not complaining about this part, I would gladly read all of the verses if time permitted. But as we all know we do lead busy lives and of course the Lord understands this. Do you think we would get the same amount of grace out of the Rosary if we didn’t read from Scripture than if we did? This seems like a rediculous and meticulous question I know.
 
I answered yes, although my real answer should be “sometimes”. Usually, I don’t read when I am praying the rosary, I just picture the events in my mind.
 
I didn’t vote b/c I’m sure which one to pick. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t. Depends on how much time I have and whether I have my scriptural rosary stuff with me.
 
I don’t, but my meditation on the mysteries based on the Scripture.
 
Does anybody have any links to websites that have Bible verses for the rosary mysteries? For instance, I could easily open up my Bible and find the appropriate verses. But if I was praying the sorrowful mysteries, which Gospel would I choose? For example, the agony in the garden appears in Matthew, Mark and Luke. So would it be best to read Matthew one day, Mark another day, and Luke on yet another day?
 
I don’t read the Scripture, I recite. After praying daily rosary for so many years, I have memorized all the scripture passages. I recite each passage and meditate on them.

These are suggestions to better oneself in reciting the Rosary. We do what we are able, and if one can only do it occasionally, then do so.

You get the same amount of grace from the rosary whether you use scripture or not. There are graces from reading scripture though, which is separate from the rosary. I do not read scripture during the rosary. If I try to, I get distracted and end up stopping in the middle of the rosary.
 
Lately I’ve been trying to look at the verses while praying the Hail Marys, it takes some concentration but it’s powerful when you connect. Another thing I do sometimes is dedicate each bead in the decade to the first person that comes to mind and this way I can pray for alot of people.
 
i do scriptural rosary and it is very powerful… i generally end up crying or choked up most of the time…

the emotion is very strong as it actually takes it very deep into the mystery
