The nun (nonhabited of course) making morning announcements at my son’s Jesuit school indicated that Ramadan was beginning and asked the young men to say a prayer to God and Allah–Doesn’t anybody else find this to be a tad odd or even sacreligious?

Did she refer to them as two different people?

I know some christians who substitue the word God for Allah in their prays.

“God” in Arabic = “Allah” (since the proper name “Allah” is a contraction of the definite article and common noun “Al-Ilah”, The God). Maltese Catholics use Arabic in the Liturgy - and call God “Allah”. So no, I don’t.

If the nun distinguishes between God & Allah, one might conceivably take issue with her knowledge of Arabic 🙂

I beliecve that Mccarrick recently addressed a prayer to Allah at a service including Muslims. If Allah is used as a generic term for God, it’s one thing. If Allah refers to giver of the Koran it’s quite another. That Allah is not my God.
