Praying to Mary and the saints directly?

Hello,

When we pray to Mary and the Saints, can we only ask them to pray for us, or can we ask them directly for things such as peace, health, etc, or are those things only for us to pray to God for? Are we only supposed to ask them to pray for us, for whatever cause?

Hi,

We don’t ask the saints to give us gifts of them selves because they don’t have any to give other that their prayers. God is the source of all gifts. They are not minor gods. They are Christians like us–except that they prefer nothing to Him all the time.
