This still remains a question for me . But I want to say that you all have given me much insight into this, with considerations I would never have thought of before. Thank you for your gracious participation.

There are very important aspects to understanding the Bible that you don’t seem to know about–no fault of yours you’ve never been taught to understand the correct way of seeing Scripture, so you are not to blame.

The Bible is NOT a proof-text. The many authors who wrote it’s individual books had no such intention. They never dreamed that people in the future would be citing bits and pieces of their writings to one another in an effort to prove this or that point.

When Jesus and the Apostles cited Scripture is was as a WITNESS to the truth of their teaching not the PROOF that their teaching was correct. There is a big difference between the two concepts.

The Canon of the Bible was put together not so people could squabble over what this bit meant or that. It was put together to be read during the Liturgies of the Church, such as the Mass or Morning and Evening Prayer, etc. It was never meant to be an object of division over ideologies.

Whenever people disagreed about the teachings of the Church councils were called, just as the first one was in Acts 15, to decide on matters of faith and morals. The Church never left important doctrinal and moral issues be decided by individuals scanning the Bible for proof-texts. Such things always were and always will be (until Christ returns) discerned by the Magisterium of the Church which is all the Bishops, the Pope and the general consensus of the Faithful with the Pope having the final say.

When you understand how the Bible was intended to be used and why it was put together in the first place, it will help you better understand why the Church teaches what she does about Mary as well as everything she instructs the Faithful about.

I think you have something else that you want to share and I’m totally open to it. I don’t have a direct answer.
If God thought that the best and most perfect way for His Son to enter the human race was through one woman, it makes perfect sense that we should go back to Him in exactly the same manner. After all we are only doing what He did.

And so I pose the question to you again for your own prayerful consideration.

Scripture does, however, reveal the power of Mary’s intercession at the wedding of Cana.
When you really think about it, this is huge. Jesus said it was not His time yet, but He made it His time because His mother asked Him to. I don’t know if I would go so far as to say God changed His plan for her, but it sure seems like it.

Sony,
There are several good documents concerning prayers to Mary and the Saints on the Catholic Answers Library. I suggest you check it out and search for the documents on Mary.

I’ll admit too that, even as a cradle Catholic, I have not always felt confortable with praying to Mary at times. Quite recently, I read a real eye opening paper on Mary as the new Ark of the Covenant. It can be found here: [

I thought it was a pretty powerful analysis on what Mary means to the RCC.](http://www.catholic-convert.com/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=34)
