Thanks for the excellent reply
I wonder why Jesus told the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus if it’s not possible for the living to speak with the dead?
If you notice his request was denied, but the main reason is which also supports that it is not God’s intention that intercession be other than what is given in human existence:
Luke:16:
29: Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
30: And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
31:
And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
Of which the Israelites did not communicate with after they, Moses and the Prophets, passed on. Just what would one think the exercise of intercession is? Isn’t Jesus THE intercessor for us before the Father? So one couldn’t intercede unless it be in the Word of God in the Presence of God. Hence Moses and the Prophets. For the Word of the Lord and the Presence of the Lord, was with them. In which these men walked, also the Apostles.
I wonder what/who it was that King Saul spoke with in the rooms of the Witch of Endor, if it wasn’t Samuel?
Thanks for these examples. It has been said by some that finding good council can be confusing, but an example is clear.
1Sam:28:
15: And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, **and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, **neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.
16: Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me,
seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy?
One must note that this man Saul, has become enmity with the Lord God hence the Lord God does not hear him, as testified in the Scriptures, and the Lord God doesn’t speak to him as testified in Scriptures. Therefore Saul sot other avenues, but that is because he is cut off from the Lord God, by the Lord God. And his communication with Samuel confirmed this status and did not change Saul’s status with God, did it?
Considering that these two examples are of those who seek to, and desire of, and do such are:
- In the fire of torment, and separation from God’s People.
- The LORD is departed from them, and is become their enemy.
Considering that the Scriptures are true and the Catholic Church agrees that the Scriptures are sacred and true, and of God. Need I say more?
You say Where then is the evidence that death cuts us off from the Body? Your arguments are all based on what seems inappropriate to you, not on what Scripture says.
What?? Are you asserting that Jesus didn’t actually die? There’s a seriously heretical position.
Or are you asserting that those who die in the Lord are not raised?
Jesus answered this one directly, when He said to the Sadducees “God told Moses He isf the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, but God is the God of the living, not the dead.”
Good question.
The very first man to experience death is Abel, and the Lord God heard his blood cry out to Him from the ground. And this is so because the Lord God said He heard. Therefore if God doesn’t hear you, you are not alive. As the Lord God has said, the blood is the life of the body. And if you notice, this is established from the get go. Before mankind populates the surface of the earth. Hence the focus if you will on the lamb, to be heard by God, because what is known is, God had respect for the one who offered the lamb and the offering of the lamb, and heard the one who offered the lamb, while he was yet not in the body. Therefore the fulfillment in Jesus Christ that God the Father hears use through His offering of the Lamb that takes away the sins of the world that would separate us from God that He would not hear us, our cry unto Him. Hence The Great Glory of the Cross.
So yes the body of the Son of man died on the Cross, many wittiness’ thereof, right? And the blood of that body was poured out into the ground, right?
Hence that body that died on the Cross was risen from the dead by the Power of the Presence of God. Does this mean that the Word of God from God of God was dead? Seeing that the Word of God in the Presence of God is Life, Life everlasting. How can that which was in the beginning that has no end, end? Do we not yet understand, that it is the Word of God in the Presence of God, that is Life.
The Gospel according to John (The Beloved) :1:
1: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2: The same was in the beginning with God.
3: All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4: In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
Mt:4:4: But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
And Jesus proved it, and fulfilled it, in human existance, for He is the Word of God revealed in the Son of man.
