Praying together?

Friends,
I just read a great article about couples praying together. I wondered if any of you guys did that? If yes, how does it work. My husband is catholic but not really practicing but he has been very open to my son (2 1/2) and I going to church praying etc.
Any suggestions?

Here are some ways my family prays together, Breakfast table, lunch table, supper table, bed time prayers. rosary time, scary times, happy times, bible time…it is not so much important how you do it but that you naturally incorporate it into your life. Start with meals and bed time, add to that. My 2 year old prays before she “eats” her pretend snacks during play. Start for your son if that makes your DH more used to the idea, then ask him to pray with you before you go to sleep. He may be more comfortable with the rote prayers, but ask him what he wants you to pray about for him.
I pray theLord will guide him to leadership in this area one day, but dont wait. Your son needs to learn to pray to stay close to the Lord.

We do pray togeher regularly. My kids are much older now, but even when they were little, I would hold them while we prayed (to keep them quieter ).

What we do now is morning prayers from the Magnificat magazine (a monthly booklet with daily Mass readings and Morning and Evening prayers adapted from the Liturgy of the Hours); evening prayers from a prayer book after a short Bible reading or Saint’s Life for inspiration. (When the kids were little this was from a children’s Bible or a picture book about Saints.) Of course we also say prayers before meals.

Then during special times, we will say additional formal prayers–like a Novena leading up to a birthday, or a yearly Consecration to the Blessed Mother. During the summer and school holidays we try to say a daily rosary together (usually we each say a rosary whenever we can during the day).

Of course, as the previous poster says, we will pray together spontaneously whenever, like when we see an ambulance, but I assummed you were asking about formal prayer time.

We pray as a family all of the time…before meals, on the way to school, at bed time, daily rosary. When one of us is going through something we will also stop and pray together. The power of prayer is certainly amazing. As for my wife and I, a simple way is to read scripture, like the daily mass readings. After reading, we discuss the scripture and then one of us ends with a prayer, usually about what was read and discussed.
